Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

When Attic Insulation Needs to Come Out in Carteret
Three situations account for most of the attic insulation removal calls we get in Carteret: the material is wet from a roof or plumbing leak, it has been compressed or contaminated over decades in a two-family attic nobody has touched since it was built, or rodents have nested in it. We check depth, condition and contamination before recommending removal, since dry, unaffected insulation can often stay put and simply get topped instead.
Removal itself runs through industrial vacuum equipment or sealed bags, whichever fits the attic, followed by a full cleanup of the floor and framing. Where droppings, urine or nesting material are involved, the space gets sanitized ahead of any replacement insulation, and any gaps in the top plates or roofline that let rodents or water reach the attic in the first place get sealed as part of the same project.
New insulation, blown-in or batt depending on the attic's layout, goes back in once the space is clean and sealed, bringing the floor up to the standard current guidance sets for an attic in this stretch of New Jersey. Carteret's tighter two-family attics change how the crew stages the vacuum hoses and bagging, which is one more reason the estimate comes after a walk-through rather than a guess over the phone.
What Attic Insulation Removal in Carteret Includes
Six services that often go along with a Carteret removal job, all starting with the same free inspection.
Why Carteret Attics Need Insulation Removed
What actually pushes a Carteret job from a simple top-up into a full removal.
Carteret's industrial waterfront and its low-lying riverfront ground push rats and mice toward attics as much as toward crawl spaces, and years of nesting leave insulation carrying droppings and urine, material we pull out completely rather than simply cover over.
Many of Carteret's two-family houses are old enough that a roof leak or a failing flashing detail has soaked the attic insulation at some point, and once fiberglass or cellulose has been wet it loses much of what made it work in the first place.
Insulation installed when these two-family houses were originally framed has usually been flattened by decades of foot traffic, stored boxes and its own weight, leaving far less loft than a Carteret attic needs to perform the way current guidance expects it to.
Low headroom and narrow hatch openings are typical of Carteret's oldest two-family stock, which changes how the crew routes the vacuum hose and stages bagging, and it is one more reason we walk the attic before quoting removal.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation Removal in Carteret: Questions We Get
What does attic insulation removal look like in a Carteret two-family?
It starts with pulling out whatever is wet, compressed or has rodents nested in it, using vacuum equipment or sealed bags depending on the attic. Many of Carteret's two-family attics we open still have insulation from when the house was originally built, so a full removal is common rather than the exception.
What is a realistic timeframe for pulling old insulation out of a Carteret attic?
It depends on how much has to come out and what condition the attic is in. A straightforward removal in a smaller Carteret attic moves quickly, while heavier contamination or tight access in an older two-family attic takes longer. We put the schedule for your attic in writing as part of the estimate itself, so nothing is left to guesswork.
Are there incentives that cover attic insulation removal in Carteret?
Carteret falls under PSE&G, and when insulation removal is followed by new material, that replacement portion has, at times, qualified for statewide NJ Clean Energy Program support. The clearest answer is the one we can give you once we know what your attic needs, during the free estimate.
Is attic insulation removal messy or disruptive for a Carteret two-family?
The crew contains the work with plastic sheeting along the path to the attic and keeps the vacuum hose and bagging inside that containment, keeping the living space below free of dust and debris. In a Carteret two-family with a tighter attic hatch, that containment step matters even more, and the area is cleared once the work wraps up.
How do you decide whether insulation needs to come out or can stay?
The inspection decides it. We check moisture, contamination and how compressed the existing material is. Dry, unaffected insulation in a Carteret attic can often be topped instead of pulled, but anything with rodent activity, water damage or mold has to come out completely before new material goes in.
Does new insulation go in right after the old material comes out?
Typically, yes. Once a Carteret attic is clean, any gaps around the top plates, flue chase or hatch are sealed, and baffles are set where the soffit vents need them, we build the replacement insulation into that same continuous job rather than scheduling it separately, unless you would prefer the space inspected further first.
How far into Middlesex County does insulation removal coverage reach from Carteret?
Port Reading, Avenel and Sewaren, the Woodbridge Township sections closest to Carteret, get the same removal crews on the same terms, as does Linden once you cross the Rahway River into Union County. From there, coverage fans out across the rest of Middlesex County, Edison included.
What happens to the insulation you remove from a Carteret attic?
It gets bagged or vacuumed straight into a containment unit, then trucked off site and disposed of the way local rules require, never dumped in the yard or set at the curb with regular trash. Material that tests as rodent-contaminated is handled the same careful way, sealed before it ever leaves the attic.
