Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Getting Old Insulation Out of an Edison Attic
Not every attic in Edison needs its insulation pulled, but plenty do. We remove it when it has taken on water from a roof or ductwork leak, when a squirrel or raccoon has taken up residence in it and left the material fouled, or when years of poor attic ventilation have let condensation settle in and turn everything damp. Older capes and colonials near Clara Barton and Menlo Park see this more often than newer construction simply because the insulation has had more decades to break down.
The old material comes out under vacuum through commercial-grade equipment, with the pathway to the attic covered and sealed off so nothing drifts into the rest of the house. Once the floor is bare, the crew sanitizes wherever animals were active and checks the roofline for the gap that let them in, because covering an open entry point with new insulation only sets up a repeat visit.
New insulation, blown-in or batts depending on the attic, follows once the floor is bare and every opening is sealed, brought up to today's standard rather than matched to whatever depth was there before. The whole scope, removal, cleanup, sealing and new material, gets written into one free estimate after we have actually seen the attic, not guessed at from a photo.
What Comes With Attic Insulation Removal in Edison
Six services that often ride along with an insulation removal job in Edison, each covered in its own free inspection.
Why Edison Attics Need Insulation Removed
The four conditions that send most Edison attic insulation out the door for good.
Squirrels and raccoons that get into an Edison roofline through the older trim around Clara Barton and Menlo Park often nest directly in the attic insulation, and the droppings and urine they leave behind do not come out with a vacuum alone, the material has to go.
A roof leak, a sweating duct line, or an attic that simply cannot vent properly all end the same way in Edison, a grayish, matted layer of insulation that no longer holds the line the way it once did.
Insulation from Edison's earliest capes and colonials has been compressed by decades of foot traffic and settling, and what is left rarely comes close to what current guidance expects, no matter how thick it once was when it went in.
A split-level attic near Oak Tree or Nixon gives the crew less headroom to route the vacuum hose than a colonial does, which changes how the job gets staged and is one more reason every removal starts with a walk-through, not a phone quote.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation Removal in Edison: Questions We Get
How do you know if the insulation in my Edison attic needs to come out instead of just topped off?
We look at three things during the visit: whether the material is wet or matted, whether there are droppings or nesting from squirrels, raccoons or mice, and how it smells. Dry, clean insulation in decent condition usually gets topped rather than pulled, but in Edison's older capes we find contaminated material often enough that we check every attic before recommending either option.
Is attic insulation removal a quick job or a longer one in Edison?
It comes down to how much material is coming out and how the attic is built. A colonial with straightforward access moves along quickly. A split-level near Oak Tree or Nixon, or an attic with heavy rodent damage to clean up first, takes longer to do properly. That schedule gets worked out in the written estimate once we have actually walked the attic.
Are there rebates available for attic insulation removal and replacement in Edison?
PSE&G supplies power to Edison, and New Jersey runs statewide efficiency incentives that have covered insulation projects before, though what qualifies changes as the funding does. Rather than promise a specific rebate on this page, we check current eligibility for your Edison address at the time of the estimate and walk you through anything that applies.
Can I pull the old insulation out of my Edison attic myself?
We would not recommend it. Old insulation collects dust, fiberglass particles and often droppings from whatever animal has been using the attic, none of which are pleasant or safe to handle without the right gear. A crew that does this daily also knows what a wet or moldy patch actually means for the rest of the attic, which is easy to miss on a DIY pass.
Is it safe to leave old attic insulation in place in an Edison house?
It depends on what is in it. Insulation that is simply thin is not a health issue, it just means the attic is under-performing. Insulation that has been chewed through, soaked, or used as a nest is a different situation, since droppings and urine can affect indoor air quality once air starts moving past it, which is why we recommend removal in those cases.
Do you install new insulation right after the old material comes out?
Often, once the floor is clean and any entry points are sealed, new material goes in as the next step in that job rather than a separate trip. We recommend blown-in or batts depending on how the Edison attic is built, and walk through both options before starting, so the new material lands at a depth that matches today's guidance rather than whatever was there originally.
What other towns near Edison do you handle insulation removal in?
Middlesex County is our home territory, and that circle around Edison runs through Highland Park, South Plainfield and Piscataway, out to Woodbridge and New Brunswick, plus Metuchen, which the township wraps on every side, where we handle the same removal and replacement work described on this page.
Where does the old insulation go after it leaves my Edison attic?
Contaminated or simply worn-out material gets bagged at the site and taken away for disposal under local regulations, it does not sit around in your driveway or yard while the job continues. Material that was contaminated by rodents is handled and disposed of separately from insulation that was just old or thin, since the two are treated differently.
