Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

Master Attic LLC (“Master Attic,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a home services contractor based in Manchester Township, New Jersey. We provide attic and crawl space insulation, rodent proofing and wildlife removal, and related cleanup services to property owners in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information in connection with our website at masterattic.com (the “Site”) and the communications that follow from it, including the estimate and contact forms on the Site and the phone calls, text messages and emails we exchange with you about your request. It also applies when you contact us directly using the phone number or email address published on the Site.

The Site is informational and is used to request service. You cannot create an account, buy a product, or make a payment on the Site. Your use of the Site is also governed by our Terms and Conditions.

In this policy, “personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked to you or your household.

Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you fill out an estimate or contact form on the Site, we collect the information you enter, which may include your name, email address, phone number, street address, city and ZIP code, the service you are interested in, and any message or project details you add. Our forms also record whether you checked the box consenting to calls and text messages, along with the date and time of the submission and the page you submitted it from.

When you call, text or email us, we collect the content of those communications and whatever you choose to tell us about your property and the work you want done. If you become a customer, we keep records related to the job, such as appointment details, notes from the inspection or estimate, measurements, photographs of the work area, the scope of work, and related correspondence.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and the providers who support it collect technical and usage information, including:

  • Device and browser information, such as device type, operating system, browser type and version, language and screen settings.
  • Your IP address and the approximate, general location derived from it, such as city, region and country. We do not collect precise device location through the Site.
  • Activity on the Site, such as the pages and content you view, the links and buttons you interact with, how long you stay, and the dates and times of your visits.
  • The website, search result, email or advertisement that referred you to the Site, and the campaign identifiers attached to the link you followed.
  • Information collected through cookies, pixels, tags, local storage and similar technologies, including identifiers that our analytics and advertising partners may set or read in your browser.

Some of this information, in particular the referring page and campaign identifiers, is stored in your browser and sent to us with a form submission so that we can tell which page or marketing campaign a request came from.

Information from service providers. We receive information about you from the providers who help us operate. For example, a call handling or answering provider may pass on your name, phone number, the reason for your call and a summary of it, and, where permitted by law, a recording or transcript. Our messaging and email providers report whether a message was delivered and whether you replied with an opt-out keyword. Our analytics and advertising partners report measurements about site activity and campaign results. We may also use publicly available property information when it is relevant to preparing an estimate.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to your request, answer questions, prepare estimates, and schedule and carry out inspections and work.
  • Provide, maintain and improve our services, train our team, and evaluate the quality of the work and of our customer service.
  • Communicate with you about your request and your project, including appointment confirmations, reminders, status updates, estimates, invoices and follow-up.
  • Send marketing communications and occasional offers where permitted by law and, where consent is required, where you have given it. You can opt out at any time.
  • Measure the performance of our website and our advertising, understand how visitors find and use the Site, and attribute a request to the page or campaign it came from.
  • Protect the Site, our customers and our business, including detecting, investigating and preventing fraud, abuse, spam submissions and security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our agreements, establish or defend legal claims, and meet licensing, insurance, tax and warranty requirements.
  • Keep business records, including a record of each request submitted through the Site and of consent given and withdrawn for calls and text messages.

We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your choices, keep the Site secure, understand how it is used, and measure the results of our marketing. Cookies are small files placed in your browser. Some last only for your visit and some remain until they expire or you delete them.

We work with providers in defined categories rather than describing the individual tools we use. Through cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies, our analytics and advertising partners may set or read identifiers in your browser and receive limited information about your visit, such as the pages you viewed, the actions you took, whether you submitted a form, and the campaign or advertisement that brought you to the Site. Where a partner supports it, contact details such as an email address or phone number may first be converted into a hashed, unreadable value, so that a request can be matched to an advertisement without exchanging readable contact details. Partners may also use these identifiers to show you our advertising on other websites, apps and social platforms, a practice generally known as interest-based or cross-context behavioral advertising.

You have several ways to control this:

  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you see the cookies that have been set, block or delete them, and refuse cookies set by other sites. These controls are usually found in the settings, privacy or preferences menu. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.
  • Device controls. Mobile operating systems let you reset your advertising identifier or limit how it is used for advertising.
  • Industry opt-out pages. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at https://optout.aboutads.info/ and https://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/.

These opt-outs are stored in the browser or device you set them on, so you need to set them again on each browser and device you use, and again if you clear your cookies. Opting out of interest-based advertising does not stop all data collection and does not stop you from seeing advertising, it only changes how that advertising is selected.

Do Not Track. There is no common industry standard for how a website should respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, and the Site does not currently respond to them.

Global Privacy Control. We honor Global Privacy Control and similar opt-out preference signals where applicable law requires us to. Where required, we treat such a signal as a request to opt the browser or device that sent it out of targeted advertising and out of any sharing of personal information for that purpose.

Text Messaging (SMS) Program

What the program is. Master Attic operates a text messaging program for people who ask us to contact them. Messages relate to the request you submitted, appointment scheduling, confirmations, reminders and status updates, estimates, invoices and follow-up about the work, other services related to your request, and occasional offers for customers who have opted in.

How you opt in. You give consent by checking the consent box on a form on masterattic.com and submitting that form with your mobile number, or by texting us first at the number we publish. We do not buy, rent or receive phone numbers for this program from any third party, and consent given to another company is never treated as consent to us. The consent language on our website forms reads:

“By submitting, I agree that Master Attic may call or text me at the number provided about my request and related services, including appointment updates and occasional offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Any charges come from your mobile carrier under your own plan, and Master Attic is not responsible for them.

How to opt out. Reply STOP to cancel; you may also contact us at info@masterattic.com or (800) 285-4009. After you reply STOP we will send one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and you will not receive further texts from the program unless you opt in again.

How to get help. Reply HELP or contact us at the same address and number.

Consent is not a condition of purchase. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.

Delivery. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your device, and we cannot guarantee that every message will be delivered.

Your mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising except as described in the Cookies, Analytics and Advertising section above. We share personal information only in the following ways:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf. We use providers in these categories: website hosting, content delivery and security; communications and messaging, including phone, email and text delivery and call handling; customer relationship management and scheduling; data storage and backup; analytics and website performance measurement; advertising measurement and delivery; and, only if you choose to finance a project, payment and financing partners. These providers may use personal information only to perform services for us, are bound by contract to protect it, and may not use it for their own purposes, except that analytics and advertising partners may use limited information as described in the cookies section above.
  • Professional advisers. Attorneys, accountants, insurers and auditors who need the information to advise us or to handle a claim.
  • Legal reasons. To comply with applicable law, a subpoena, a warrant, a court order or another lawful request from a public authority; to enforce our agreements; to investigate suspected fraud, abuse or a security incident; or to protect the rights, property or safety of Master Attic, our customers, our team or the public.
  • Business transfer. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets or a similar transaction, or during the evaluation of one, in which case personal information may be transferred as a business asset and remains subject to this policy unless you are told otherwise.
  • With your consent or at your direction. For example, when you ask us to share information with a property manager, a family member, another contractor or an insurer.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information. Information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you may be used and shared without restriction.

The text messaging carve-out set out above applies to every category in this section: text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all of them, and that information will not be shared with any third parties.

Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy and for as long as applicable law requires. Estimate requests, customer and job records, warranty documentation, invoices and related correspondence are kept as business records so that we can honor warranties, answer questions about past work, and meet tax, insurance, licensing and legal obligations. Records of consent given and withdrawn for calls and text messages are kept for as long as we operate the program and for a reasonable period afterward, so that we can show that consent was given and that opt-out requests were honored. Technical and usage data collected automatically is generally kept for a shorter period.

You can ask us to delete information about you at any time by contacting us using the details at the end of this policy. We will delete what we are able to, and we will tell you if we have to keep something to meet a legal obligation, to resolve a dispute, to enforce an agreement, or to keep an opt-out request on file so that we do not contact you again.

Your Rights and Choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy of it.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
  • Delete information that we no longer need to keep.
  • Stop sending you marketing emails. You can also use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
  • Stop calling you for marketing purposes.
  • Stop texting you. You can also reply STOP to any message from us.

You can also limit cookies and interest-based advertising using the controls described above.

State privacy rights. Residents of New Jersey and of certain other states have additional rights under state privacy laws. Depending on where you live, those rights may include the right to confirm whether we process your personal information and to access it, the right to correct inaccuracies, the right to delete personal information you provided or that we obtained, the right to obtain a portable copy of it, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising, of the sale of personal information, and of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information to advertise to you.

How to exercise your rights. Email info@masterattic.com, call (800) 285-4009, or write to us at the address below, and tell us what you are asking for. Before we act, we will verify your identity by asking for information that matches our records, and we may decline a request that we cannot verify. An authorized agent may submit a request for you if they provide written permission from you and we can confirm your identity. We respond within the time allowed by applicable law.

No discrimination. We will not deny you services, charge you a different price, or give you a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.

How to appeal. If we decline your request, our response will explain why. You may appeal by replying to that response or by emailing info@masterattic.com with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line. We will review the appeal and tell you in writing what we decided and the reasons for it, within the time allowed by applicable law. If your appeal is denied, you may submit a complaint to the attorney general of your state.

Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. These include access controls that limit information to the people who need it, encryption of information in transit to and from the Site, and agreements that require our providers to protect the information they handle for us. No website, transmission method or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us right away using the details below.

Children’s Privacy

The Site and our services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. You must be at least 18 years old to request an estimate or service.

Third-Party Links

The Site may link to websites, social media profiles, review platforms and other resources that we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those sites. When you follow a link away from the Site, the privacy policy of the destination applies. Please review it before you share information there.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our services, or legal requirements. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and post the revised policy on this page. If the changes are significant, we will provide additional notice where required by law. Your continued use of the Site after the revised policy is posted means that you accept it.
