Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

What a Somerset Crawl Space or Basement Cleanup Involves
Which one a Somerset property has, a basement or a vented crawl space, usually comes down to when that particular block was built, and both collect the same kind of buildup over the years: loose debris, insulation that has slipped or turned damp, and whatever a mouse or a squirrel left behind after finding its way in. Left alone, that buildup is what keeps the space smelling the way it does and feeding whatever moisture problem is already there.
A cleanup clears all of it out, the debris, the failed insulation, anything contaminated, then sanitizes the surfaces underneath so the space is actually reset rather than just tidied around the edges. Where the source of the smell or the moisture is something structural, a gap letting in outside air, a spot where water is getting in, that gets flagged as part of the same inspection.
What a particular basement or crawl space needs after that, new insulation, a vapor barrier, rodent proofing, or just the cleanup on its own, depends entirely on what the walk-through turns up, which is why the estimate is free, written, and specific to the space we actually looked at. A first-time cleanup on an older Somerset property is often the point where problems that have been building for years finally get identified all at once.

What We Find in Somerset Crawl Spaces and Basements
A look at what typically brings a cleanup crew out to a Somerset property.
A crawl space or basement is easy to forget about between visits, and in that time loose debris, packaging left from other projects, and insulation that has slipped off the joists tends to pile up quietly until it is noticed all at once.
A vented crawl space or an older basement in Somerset rarely stays fully dry, sitting as the town does between the Millstone and Raritan, and that dampness is what turns ordinary dust and debris into the kind of buildup a simple sweep will not fix.
The wooded corridors along Somerset's rivers put raccoons and squirrels within reach of most crawl spaces and basements at some point, and what they leave behind, droppings, torn insulation, sometimes a section of collapsed duct, is usually the reason a cleanup gets called in the first place.
Melting snow and freeze-thaw cycles through a Somerset winter push extra moisture toward the foundation, and a crawl space or basement that already has debris or old insulation sitting in it holds onto that moisture instead of drying out between storms.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Crawlspace & Basement Cleanup in Somerset: Questions We Get
What does a crawl space and basement cleanup actually involve in Somerset?
It starts with clearing out everything that does not belong, loose debris, fallen or contaminated insulation, whatever a rodent may have left behind, then sanitizing the surfaces underneath so odors and residue do not just get moved around. Anything structural the inspection turns up, a gap letting in air, a spot taking on water, gets noted in the same estimate so it can be addressed next.
How long does a typical crawl space or basement cleanup take?
A lightly used space with minor debris and no contamination clears out quickly. A space carrying years of old insulation or rodent activity understandably takes longer to clear and sanitize the right way. Whichever it turns out to be, the actual timeline gets written into your estimate after we have walked the space, not guessed at before.
Can a crawl space or basement cleanup help with PSE&G rebate eligibility?
A cleanup by itself does not usually carry its own rebate eligibility. Where new insulation follows right behind it, that combination has qualified under PSE&G and New Jersey efficiency programs in past years. Exactly what is live at the moment is something we walk you through when we are out for the estimate.
How often should a Somerset crawl space or basement actually be cleaned out?
There is no fixed schedule that fits every property, since it depends on moisture levels and how active wildlife has been in that particular spot. A general rule for an older Somerset crawl space or basement is to have it inspected every few years, sooner if you notice a new smell, sagging insulation or sounds you have not heard before.
During a cleanup, what actually gets pulled versus left alone?
Debris and anything contaminated, chewed, soiled or clearly failed, comes out. Material holding up fine, still dry and intact, can often be left where it is if it is not blocking other work. The call gets made during the inspection based on what condition each specific item is actually in, not a blanket rule applied to the whole space.
Is pulling out old insulation included in a cleanup, or billed on its own?
It can be either, depending on what the inspection finds. Insulation that is clearly failed or contaminated comes out as part of the cleanup itself. Insulation that just needs to be topped up or replaced with something new is usually quoted as its own step, since that is new material going in rather than old material coming out.
What towns outside Somerset itself get crawl space and basement cleanup calls?
Cleanup calls take us throughout Somerset County, including Somerville and Bound Brook, and across the Raritan into Middlesex County for North Brunswick, New Brunswick and Franklin Park. Somerset, as the built-up heart of Franklin Township, is at the center of all of it.
What if the cleanup uncovers something structural, like a leak or damaged framing?
It gets documented and explained as part of the same estimate. Master Attic handles the insulation, debris and rodent side of what a cleanup finds, and where the inspection turns up something outside that scope, foundation cracks or an active leak, we will tell you plainly so you can get the right specialist involved before we finish our part of the work.
