Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Remove Attic Insulation in Somerset
Somerset attics come off insulation for one of three usual reasons: a roof or duct leak has soaked it, a squirrel or mouse turned it into a nest and fouled it with droppings, or decades of settling have simply flattened it past any use. A split-level near Quailbrook and an older colonial in Franklin Township both get a full look before we say what has to go.
A commercial vacuum unit draws the old material straight through a hose run from the truck to the attic hatch, so debris never has a chance to spread into the rooms below. Any attic with a rodent history gets a cleaning and a sanitizing pass on top of that, since droppings and nesting scraps left behind would only draw the same activity back.
Once the space is empty and sanitized, everything that comes next goes into the written estimate: new blown-in or batt material, sealing at the chases and hatch, and baffles wherever the soffit intake needs to stay clear under the added depth. Somerset covers too many decades of construction for any two removal jobs to look alike, which is the whole reason the inspection happens first.

What We Find Removing Insulation in Somerset Attics
Four situations account for most of the insulation we pull out of Somerset attics.
A good share of the insulation we pull out of Somerset attics has simply aged past its usefulness, compressed flat under its own weight after decades in a split-level near Quailbrook or an early Franklin Township colonial. Flattened batts stop doing much of anything, which is usually the first thing an inspection turns up.
Water finds its way into more Somerset attics than owners expect, whether from a slow roof leak, a cracked duct joint, or condensation off an old bathroom fan vent. Wet insulation loses its ability to insulate almost immediately and tends to grow mold if it sits, which is why it has to come out rather than dry in place.
A gap at an aging soffit is usually all it takes for a squirrel to get onto a Somerset roofline, and from there the insulation nearby gets shredded into nesting material and fouled with droppings. Contaminated batts like that never stay, and the attic is sanitized as a standard part of clearing them out.
A split-level attic near Quailbrook is shallower and harder to move a hose through than an open colonial attic, so removal takes more staging and care to protect the framing. That difference is exactly why a technician gets into the attic before any number goes on paper.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation Removal in Somerset: Questions We Get
What does an attic insulation removal job involve in Somerset?
We start by identifying why the insulation needs to come out, whether that is water damage, age, or a rodent problem, then draw it out with the vacuum rig so dust never gets a chance to travel through the living space below. If contamination is present the attic gets cleaned and sanitized. From there the estimate covers what goes back in, whether that is blown-in fill, batts, or both.
Does an attic insulation removal job in Somerset eat up an entire weekend?
Not usually, though the calendar depends entirely on the attic. A partial pull in an open colonial moves quickly, while a full removal through a tight split-level hatch near Quailbrook, especially with rodent cleanup mixed in, stretches longer. Your written estimate spells out the timing for that specific attic before anyone starts work.
Can PSE&G rebates offset the cost of attic insulation removal in Somerset?
Removal on its own rarely qualifies. PSE&G and state Clean Energy Program dollars tend to follow the fresh insulation and sealing work that comes afterward, not the pull-out itself. We can walk you through how the two portions get priced separately, and flag anything currently on offer once we are out for the estimate.
Will removing attic insulation make a mess of the rest of a Somerset house?
We keep it contained. Plastic sheeting protects the path from the attic hatch to the truck, and the vacuum pulls material straight out through a hose rather than getting carried through the house in bags. Nearly everything stays confined to the attic and the driveway, never the living space.
Does every bit of old insulation have to come out, or can some of it stay?
It depends on the section, not a blanket rule for the whole attic. Dry, unaffected batts in one part of a Somerset attic can sometimes stay while we remove only the compromised section nearby, though that depends entirely on what the inspection finds. Once rodents, water, or mold have touched any part of the material, we recommend it all come out rather than risk contamination spreading to what is left.
After the old material comes out, does new insulation go in on the same appointment?
That part is up to you. Once the attic is vacuumed clear and sanitized if needed, our crew can close up the chases and hatch, add baffles at the eaves, and finish with blown-in or batt insulation sized to current guidance right then. Plenty of Somerset owners split removal and reinstallation into two separate bookings instead, and either approach works fine.
Beyond Somerset, where else does Master Attic run attic insulation removal jobs?
Somerville and Bound Brook fall within the county line we already cover, and the crew is over the Raritan often enough for jobs in New Brunswick, Franklin Park, and North Brunswick. So many older attics in this pocket of central Jersey are overdue for it that removal stays a regular part of the weekly schedule.
Do condo or townhouse attics in Somerset Run need insulation removal too?
They can, especially in older sections of these communities where the original insulation is now well past its useful life. Attic access and shared framing in a townhouse change how we stage the vacuum equipment, but the removal and sanitizing process itself follows the same inspection-first approach as any single-family attic in Somerset.
