Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Clean Out an Attic in Somerset
What comes out of a Somerset attic during a cleanup is rarely just boxes: worn insulation, wildlife droppings, and general debris make up most of it. Left in place, that mess sits under whatever a Somerset attic has stored for years, seasonal boxes, old furniture, holiday decorations nobody has climbed up to touch in a while, and we take stock of the real condition of everything once the clutter is out of the way.
The work happens in order. We seal off the path to the attic hatch so nothing tracks down into the house, clear the floor, and pull any insulation that has gone too contaminated or worn to leave in place. Anywhere rodents have left a mark, sanitizing follows once the space is clear, because leftover droppings and nesting scraps hold onto odor and tend to draw the same activity back.
What comes out of it is a usable attic and a straight answer about what it needs going forward, whether that means putting storage back on shelving instead of the insulation, or a full insulation and sealing project once the space is open enough to assess properly. The free estimate covers both the cleanup itself and whatever we would recommend for that particular Somerset attic afterward.
What Attic Cleanup in Somerset Includes
Six services Somerset homeowners often bundle with an attic cleanup, walked through during one visit.
What We Find Cleaning Out Somerset Attics
Four things show up on nearly every Somerset cleanup we run.
Attics across Somerset tend to collect decades worth of holiday decorations, spare furniture, and boxes that have sat sealed for years, most of it resting straight on insulation that was never designed to be crushed under bins or walked across. Clearing that layer out is usually step one on the job.
Squirrels have easy access to Somerset rooflines thanks to the mature trees lining the Raritan and Millstone corridors, and by the time anyone calls us, droppings scattered across the attic floor are usually the first sign, well before the animal itself turns up in person.
Franklin Township's ground stays damp for most of the year, and a Somerset attic that never gets proper airflow holds onto that summer humidity right along with whatever boxes are stored in it, leaving behind a stale smell that clearing the clutter by itself will not solve.
A split-level attic hatch near Quailbrook is often smaller and set at an awkward angle compared to a colonial's pull-down stair, which changes how much can be carried out by hand versus staged for vacuum removal. We plan for that access before quoting the cleanup.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Cleanup in Somerset: Questions We Get
What should a Somerset homeowner expect from an attic cleanup visit?
We start by clearing debris, old storage, and anything blocking a clear look at the insulation and framing, then assess what else needs attention: contaminated insulation, droppings from rodent activity, or general dust and grime built up over the years. Sanitizing follows wherever there has been rodent activity, and the estimate covers what we would recommend once the attic is clear.
What determines how long a Somerset attic cleanup runs?
Mostly the volume and condition of what is up there. A light pass through a newer Somerset Run attic with just seasonal boxes goes quickly, while an older split-level near Quailbrook with years of buildup and a possible rodent history stretches on longer. That timing gets pinned down specifically once the crew has actually seen the attic in person.
Could a Somerset cleanup qualify for any PSE&G assistance?
Not the cleanup portion on its own, utility and state Clean Energy Program dollars generally target insulation and sealing upgrades rather than the clearing-out stage. If your cleanup turns up old or damaged insulation, ask what currently applies once the attic moves into that next phase of work.
Is it risky to walk through a Somerset attic that has gone years without attention?
Enough that we would rather handle it than talk a homeowner through doing it solo. Old insulation, exposed nails, and joists that are easy to misjudge make an untouched attic a place to step carefully, and disturbed rodent droppings carry a real health concern without the right protection. Our crew comes equipped for exactly that condition.
Who decides what gets tossed and what stays during the cleanup?
You do, for anything that is simply stored and in good shape, we set it aside or restack it properly rather than discard it. Insulation and debris only come out when they are damaged, contaminated, or blocking work that needs to happen, like sealing a chase. We walk the attic together whenever it matters, so nothing leaves that you wanted kept.
Does insulation removal happen alongside a routine cleanup?
Only when the insulation itself needs to go, whether from age, water damage, or rodent contamination. A cleanup that finds sound insulation underneath the clutter can leave it in place. When removal is needed, we handle it as part of one appointment so a Somerset attic only has to be opened up once.
How far from Somerset does Master Attic go for a cleanup call?
The rest of Somerset County is covered, Somerville and Bound Brook among them, and the crew is regularly over in Middlesex County too, for Franklin Park, North Brunswick, and New Brunswick across the water. Cleanup requests stay a steady part of the week for crews already working this pocket of central Jersey.
Does clearing out a cluttered attic actually lower a Somerset home's energy bills?
Indirectly, yes. The cleanup alone does not add insulation, but it opens up the view needed to see where conditioned air is escaping and whether what is already there is even doing its job. Most homeowners pair a cleanup with an insulation and air sealing estimate once the attic is open enough to judge properly.
