Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Rodent Proof an Edison Attic or Crawl Space
Rodent proofing an Edison attic starts with a walk of the exterior to mark every point squirrels, raccoons or mice are using to get in, whatever decade the house was built. In the older sections near Clara Barton and Menlo Park that usually means aging soffit and fascia at the roofline; in a newer colonial in North Edison the gaps are more likely at a vent screen or a utility penetration that was never finished off.
Edison's split-levels near Metropark often carry a crawl space alongside a finished basement, and the foundation vents, crawl door and skirting on that side of the house give mice a way in once the temperature drops, whatever the roofline looks like above it. Once every opening is shut, we haul out any insulation the animals nested in or fouled and leave the space sanitized.
A technician walks the roofline first, ladder up if the eaves warrant it, then moves inside to the attic and, on a split-level, the crawl space, since Edison's capes, colonials and newer builds each hide their gaps in a different spot. Everything that needs sealing, removing or sanitizing goes on one written, no-cost quote before any of it happens.

What We Find When We Rodent Proof in Edison
The four conditions behind most of the calls we get across Edison for squirrels, raccoons and mice.
Clara Barton and Menlo Park kept much of their original tree canopy through decades of Edison's growth, and those low branches make the jump from limb to shingle an easy one for a squirrel or raccoon. Once soffit or fascia has aged enough to give, that same route stays open for mice through the colder months.
A crawl door with a cracked panel or a foundation vent missing its screen gives mice a route in below the house that has nothing to do with the roofline. On a Metropark split-level, that side often gets overlooked because the attic is where the noise usually is.
A squirrel or mouse that got into an Edison attic before the gaps were sealed usually left droppings and shredded material behind in the insulation. That contamination does not go away on its own, and clearing it is a separate step from closing the roofline or the crawl doors.
Once Middlesex County shifts into fall, mice start looking for a warm way indoors, and an attic or crawl space with a gap still open is the first place they find. We see the same seasonal jump in calls from Clara Barton, North Edison and every neighborhood between them.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Rodent Proofing in Edison: Questions We Get
What does rodent proofing actually involve for an Edison attic?
A technician walks the roofline, soffits and any crawl space access to mark every gap squirrels, raccoons or mice are using, then closes each one with material suited to that spot. Whatever insulation the animals nested in or soiled comes out, and the space gets sanitized once the openings are shut.
How long does rodent proofing take on a typical Edison house?
The number of gaps found and whether contaminated insulation has to come out first are what stretch or shorten the job. A single sealed vent on a newer North Edison house is a quick fix, while a Clara Barton cape with years of squirrel activity in the attic runs longer. Your specific timeline gets spelled out once the walk-through is done.
Are there incentive programs that apply to rodent proofing in Edison?
Rodent proofing itself is not usually the kind of work utility rebate programs target, since it is exclusion and cleanup rather than an efficiency upgrade. Where the job also involves insulation, PSE&G and the state Clean Energy Program have offered incentives for that portion in past years, and we will note anything that currently applies when we put together your estimate.
My Edison attic has a squirrel in it right now, what happens first?
Finding its entry point comes first, since leaving that gap open keeps the situation going regardless of anything else we do. Once it is closed and the animal is out, any nesting material in the insulation gets removed and the attic gets sanitized before we consider the visit finished.
What tells you which spots on my house actually need sealing?
The walk-through does. An Edison cape near Clara Barton with aging soffit calls for different attention than a North Edison colonial with a newer roofline, so a technician covers the whole exterior, the attic and the crawl space where there is one before anything gets recommended.
Will you have to touch my attic insulation just to seal the roofline?
Only if it needs it. Dry insulation with no sign of nesting can usually stay put while a technician works around it. Once rodents have actually denned in it, though, pulling it and sanitizing the space becomes part of the job, and which case your Edison attic falls into is something the walk-through settles.
Do you serve the towns around Edison too?
Yes, all of Middlesex County, and squirrels, raccoons and mice do not stop at a town line. Around Edison our crews are already working regularly in South Plainfield, Woodbridge and Piscataway, plus Highland Park and New Brunswick, and in Metuchen, which sits entirely inside the township on all sides.
Is rodent proofing different for a crawl space than an attic in Edison?
The idea is the same, seal every opening, but the openings themselves are different. A crawl space in an Edison split-level usually has vents, a crawl door and skirting to check, while an attic is mostly roofline, soffit and fascia. Houses near Metropark that have both often need both checked in the same inspection.
