Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Getting Raccoons Out of an Edison Attic or Crawl Space
Raccoons reach an Edison attic or crawl space two different ways, depending on which one they find first. Getting into the attic usually starts at roof height: the mature trees near Clara Barton and Menlo Park put them right at the eaves, where they work a gap in old soffit or fascia wide enough to squeeze through. Getting into a crawl space happens closer to the ground, through a torn foundation vent, a loose crawl door or gapped skirting, common enough in the split-level construction near Metropark.
Removal itself is done with one-way doors wherever they will work, letting a raccoon leave through the gap it already knows without letting it back in, and with humane trapping when a den has to be checked directly, especially when kits are involved and need to come out together with the mother so no animal gets left behind separated from the others.
After the animal is gone, the opening it used gets closed for good so nothing follows it back in, and whatever it damaged gets addressed, contaminated attic insulation removed and the space sanitized, or a torn crawl space liner patched and the area cleaned. The full scope for either space, exclusion, cleanup and any repair, comes in one free written estimate after we have actually seen what is there.

Where Edison Raccoons Get In
The four entry points and conditions behind most raccoon calls in Edison.
The mature tree canopy along Clara Barton and Menlo Park puts a climbing raccoon at eave height, and where the soffit or fascia trim has weathered enough to loosen, it takes very little effort to work a gap wide enough for an adult raccoon to fit through.
Split-level construction near Metropark often pairs a crawl space with the main living area, and a torn foundation vent screen or gapped skirting gives a raccoon a dry, sheltered spot at ground level that is just as attractive as an attic once the weather turns cold.
A raccoon does not just pass through insulation, it beds down in it, and the weight, the droppings and the matting that follow leave material in an Edison attic that needs to come out completely instead of just being covered over with something new.
Edison sees raccoon calls pick up twice a year, in the fall when a warm attic or crawl space becomes shelter from the cold, and in spring when a mother raccoon looks for a safe place to raise kits before either space would otherwise sit empty.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Raccoon Removal in Edison: Questions We Get
What tells you it is a raccoon in my Edison attic and not something smaller?
Weight and timing are the giveaways. A raccoon moves with a heavier, slower thump instead of quick scurrying, and it is almost always active well after dark rather than at dawn or dusk. The openings it leaves at the roofline tend to be wider, the droppings bigger, and there is often a stronger, more concentrated odor around one spot in the attic.
Is raccoon removal from an Edison attic a quick process?
It depends on what the crew is dealing with. A single adult using a one-way door can be handled in a short window once the entry point is found. A den with kits, or damage that needs cleaning up first, adds time. Either way the schedule for your situation is spelled out in the estimate rather than promised up front.
Would insurance or utility rebates cover raccoon damage in my Edison attic?
Exclusion and cleanup work like this generally falls outside what utility rebates cover, those programs are built around insulation and air sealing rather than wildlife removal. Edison draws power from PSE&G, so if a raccoon job leads into reinsulating the attic afterward, that portion may qualify for something, which we would check at the time.
Are raccoons in an Edison attic dangerous to my family?
They can be if they feel cornered, and they can carry rabies and other diseases, so getting close to one yourself is not worth the risk. The bigger everyday concern is usually the damage: raccoons chew wiring, tear ductwork and soil insulation, which is why exclusion and cleanup matter as much as getting the animal out in the first place.
What is the actual process for removing a raccoon from an Edison attic or crawl space?
We find the entry point first, then fit a one-way door over it so the animal can exit to feed on its own but cannot squeeze back inside once it leaves, which handles most adult raccoons without ever touching them. When kits are involved, or the space does not suit a one-way door, we switch to humane trapping so the mother and kits come out together, removed as one family rather than separated.
Do you clean up after the raccoon before sealing the attic or crawl space?
Yes, sealing an entry point over a mess just traps the damage inside. In the attic that usually means removing soiled or flattened insulation and sanitizing the floor. In a crawl space it can mean cleaning debris off the vapor barrier or ground and checking whether the liner itself needs repair before anything gets closed up.
Do you handle raccoon removal outside Edison, in towns like Metuchen or Woodbridge?
Yes, all across Middlesex County. Metuchen sits fully enclosed within Edison's borders, and beyond that our crews are frequently in Piscataway, Woodbridge, South Plainfield, Highland Park and New Brunswick handling the same kind of calls. Raccoons do not respect town lines any more than the trees and rooflines they climb do, so the same attic and crawl space process described here applies whether the call comes from Edison itself or one of the towns around it.
My Edison crawl space has a raccoon, does that mean my attic has one too?
Not automatically. Attics and crawl spaces attract different animals for different reasons, tree access for one, ground-level gaps for the other, so a raccoon in one does not guarantee the other is affected. We check both during the inspection anyway, since Edison's split-level homes often have a crawl space and an attic close enough together that one problem is worth ruling out the other.
