Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Installing New Crawlspace Insulation in Edison
New crawlspace insulation goes in at the floor joists, and on an Edison split-level the uncovered edge where the foundation stops and the framing begins usually needs the same attention. A technician measures what is already there, notes where it has failed or gone missing, and matches new material to the joist spacing and the access that particular crawl space allows.
Access is the real variable in Edison. A colonial with a full crawl space underneath gives a crew room to move, while a split-level with the crawl space wedged under only one section of the house next to a finished basement is a tighter, slower job. Either way, any old batts that have sagged, gotten wet or been chewed through by rodents get pulled first, because putting fresh material over a compromised layer only repeats the same problem later.
Sealing the gaps around plumbing and duct penetrations happens alongside the insulation work, not as an afterthought, since a well-insulated floor with an unsealed foundation still loses conditioned air. What was found, what gets recommended, and when the crew can be there all go into one written quote before a tool comes out.

What New Crawlspace Insulation Jobs Turn Up in Edison
Four things a walk-through of an Edison crawl space usually turns up before a new install.
Crawl spaces under Edison split-levels near Metropark often show insulation that has slipped off the joists after years of humidity, leaving bare wood exposed to the outside air. New insulation goes in once that material is cleared and the joists are dry.
A colonial's full crawl space lets a crew move around on their knees without much trouble, but a split-level built with only a narrow strip of crawl space under part of the house means working hunched over the whole time, which stretches out even a simple install.
A humid Edison summer works its way into a crawl space that has not been sealed, and insulation dropped in without addressing that source tends to sag again before long. Pairing the install with sealing or encapsulation is what makes the new material hold.
Bare joists with no insulation between them do nothing to stop a Central Jersey winter from reaching the flooring above, and an Edison house with an empty crawl space feels it as cold feet in the rooms overhead. Fresh insulation at the floor closes that off.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
New Crawlspace Insulation in Edison: Questions We Get
What goes into a new floor joist insulation job for an Edison crawl space?
Fresh insulation goes across the floor joists, and where it is bare, the uncovered foundation edge that meets the framing gets covered too. Existing material that has sagged, gotten wet or been chewed by rodents comes out ahead of that. Air sealing runs alongside the install so the new insulation is not undone by a gap that was never closed.
What determines the timeline for installing new crawlspace insulation in Edison?
Access and how much old material, if any, has to come out first are what drive the difference. A clear, dry crawl space is a fast install, while a cramped split-level crawl space or one with damaged insulation to pull adds real time. That number comes back with the written estimate, specific to your crawl space.
Is new crawlspace insulation in Edison eligible for any rebates?
It can be, since insulation upgrades are the category PSE&G and the New Jersey Clean Energy Program have most often supported. Whether a specific Edison project qualifies depends on the details of the install, so that is something we confirm and explain during the estimate rather than promise in advance.
My Edison crawl space has never had insulation, is that unusual?
Not for the area. A number of older Edison houses, especially capes and splits from the original building boom, went up with nothing at the crawl space floor at all, because that simply was not how houses were built at the time. Getting a crawl space like that in line with today's expectations is a first-time install, not a fix for something that failed.
How do you decide what my Edison crawl space needs?
A technician looks at the condition of any existing insulation, how the crawl space is accessed, the joist spacing and whether moisture or rodent activity has caused damage. A colonial with a full crawl space and a split-level with a tighter, tucked-in one call for different plans, and that plan only gets written up after the space has actually been seen.
Is it ever fine to leave the old insulation in place and just add more?
It can be, when the existing batts are dry, still holding their shape and not covering the joists you need to reach. Insulation that has sagged, taken on moisture or been nested in, which turns up often enough in an Edison crawl space left alone for years, gets removed before anything new is added.
Do you install crawlspace insulation outside Edison as well?
We do, throughout Middlesex County. That includes the towns that border Edison directly, South Plainfield, Woodbridge and Piscataway, along with Highland Park and New Brunswick a little further out, and Metuchen, the small town completely surrounded by Edison on every side.
Can you insulate just part of my Edison crawl space?
Sometimes, if only one section has a problem, but in most cases we recommend treating the whole crawl space the same way, since an insulated section next to an open one does not stop the same air and moisture from moving between them. What makes sense for your specific crawl space is something the inspection will settle.
