Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Rodent Proofing a South Plainfield Attic or Crawl Space
A South Plainfield rodent job starts at the roofline, not with bait or poison. Master Attic maps every soffit seam, roof-to-wall gap and vent opening that squirrels, raccoons or mice are using to reach an attic, plus the foundation vents, crawl doors and skirting gaps that give them a path underneath the house, whatever decade the house happens to date to.
Each opening then gets closed with material an animal cannot chew or work loose. Anything that got nested in, soiled or shredded comes out afterward and the space is sanitized. Capes and ranches in Avon Park and Holly Park see this pattern more than anywhere else in the borough, since a lot of them still wear the same soffit trim the builders hung when the borough was booming.
A walk-through of the roofline, soffits, foundation vents and crawl space openings comes first, so the recommendation matches what is actually open on that house rather than a guess. From there you get a written scope naming every gap that needs closing and whatever, if anything, has to be removed and sanitized ahead of the sealing.

What We Find in South Plainfield Attics & Crawl Spaces
Four patterns Master Attic keeps running into once wildlife has gotten into a South Plainfield roofline or crawl space.
Mature trees ringing the Barnes Preserve, plus the older shade trees on many South Plainfield blocks, put squirrels and raccoons within a short climb of most rooflines. Soffit trim on capes and ranches from the 1950s boom has had decades to loosen enough for an animal to use.
A mouse or squirrel that gets into an attic builds its nest out of whatever insulation is closest, tearing it apart in the process and leaving chewed wiring and droppings behind. That insulation is often original to the 1950s build in Avon Park and Holly Park and was overdue for attention regardless.
The same foundation vent that lets humid air rise off the nearby Bound Brook watershed is frequently the exact opening a mouse or an occasional raccoon uses to reach the space underneath the house. Shutting it solves the moisture problem and the wildlife problem in one move.
A 1950s cape's soffit trim was never built with a determined squirrel or raccoon in mind, and on South Plainfield's original housing stock those seams have had years to separate just enough to let an animal through. That is why the whole roofline gets checked, not just the obvious gap.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Rodent Proofing in South Plainfield: Questions We Get
When Master Attic rodent proofs a South Plainfield attic or crawl space, what actually happens?
Every soffit, vent and crawl space opening gets checked for gaps an animal could be using. Each one gets closed with material they cannot chew or pry loose, and anything nested inside already, insulation, debris or droppings, gets pulled out and the space sanitized before the job is called finished.
What is the timeline for rodent proofing on a South Plainfield attic?
How much is open and how much cleanup the animals left behind sets the pace. A few soffit gaps on an otherwise tight roofline seal quickly, while a job that also needs nested insulation pulled and the attic sanitized runs longer. Your written scope lays out a realistic timeline once the crew has actually seen the roofline.
Are there rebates for rodent proofing in South Plainfield?
Sealing entry points on its own is not usually what utility programs pay toward, those incentives lean toward insulation and air sealing. South Plainfield falls under PSE&G, though, so if the job also means replacing insulation the animals ruined, ask during the estimate what the NJ Clean Energy Program or PSE&G currently offers.
What are the signs I have wildlife in my South Plainfield attic?
Noise around dusk or dawn, droppings along the joists, wiring with bite marks and insulation that looks pulled into a pile or flattened out are the usual tells. Squirrels and raccoons are the most common culprits given how much tree cover sits along the Barnes Preserve, with mice becoming more common once the weather turns cold.
How do you decide what needs sealing on a particular South Plainfield house?
A walk covers the roofline, soffit seams, gable and ridge vents above, plus the foundation vents, crawl doors and skirting below. What actually needs closing varies by house, older capes in Avon Park and Holly Park usually show more wear at the soffits than newer construction, but the recommendation always comes from that walk, never a standard checklist.
Do you have to pull the attic insulation before sealing up the roofline?
Not for the sealing itself, entry points get closed no matter what shape the attic insulation is in. Material only comes out once it has been nested in or torn up, and once it does, the space gets sanitized too, otherwise leftover scent just keeps drawing animals back to the same spot.
Do you handle rodent proofing outside South Plainfield too?
We do, Middlesex County is home base and the bordering Union County towns are a short drive from there. We are regularly out in Edison, Metuchen and Piscataway, and we cover Plainfield, Scotch Plains and Dunellen just as often, so a free inspection nearby is easy to arrange.
Does sealing the roofline also cover the crawl space underneath the house?
They get treated as two separate systems, since the openings animals use are different for each: foundation vents, crawl doors and skirting gaps below versus soffits and roof edges above. A South Plainfield walk-through checks both spaces, and the scope names what is open at each so nothing gets skipped.
