Attic Services
Millville grew up around its 19th and early 20th century glass factories, and the frame houses built near Glasstown and downtown for that workforce still stand on balloon-framed attics that were never meant to hold real insulation. Out past the old factory blocks, most of the city's ranch and Cape Cod houses date to the postwar decades, with a median build year around 1970 and insulation still sized to a much older energy code.

Squirrels chew wiring and tear up insulation once they get into an attic. We remove them and close the entry points.
Squirrel Removal →A raccoon can wreck attic insulation and ductwork in weeks and leave dangerous droppings behind. Safe removal plus repair of the damage.
Raccoon Removal →Bats roost in quiet attic corners and their droppings contaminate everything below. Humane exclusion plus full cleanup.
Bat Removal →Mice squeeze in through gaps the width of a pencil, nest in the insulation and leave droppings across the attic floor. Removal, then sealing the gaps so they stay out.
Attic Mice Removal →Wildlife tears openings where the roof meets the walls, and every gap is an open door. We seal the entry points and repair the damage.
Rodent Proofing →Thin, patchy insulation lets heated and cooled air escape into the attic all year. Upgrading it cuts energy bills.
Attic Insulation →Moisture in the crawl space feeds mold and rots the framing under your floor. Encapsulation seals out the damp ground air.
Crawl Space Encapsulation →New batts fill every joist bay edge to edge, so heated and cooled air stays in the rooms below instead of bleeding into the attic. Lower bills, even temperatures.
Attic Insulation →A vented ridge lets hot, moist air escape at the peak while baffles keep the soffit intake open. Balanced airflow protects the roof deck and keeps the new insulation dry.
Attic Ventilation →The roofline gap the wildlife used is sealed with rodent-proof mesh and sealant, along with every other opening we found. Nothing gets back in.
Rodent Proofing →Droppings, nesting debris and the contaminated insulation are gone, and the framing is treated so odors and bacteria do not linger in the air you breathe.
Attic Cleanup →A sealed vapor barrier covers the ground and walls, so damp soil air can no longer feed mold or rot the floor framing above it.
Crawl Space Encapsulation →What is going wrong here
- Thin, patchy attic insulation lets heated and cooled air leak up into the attic, and the energy bill pays for every bit of it.
- Warm air pours out through the roofline gap and the ridge instead of staying where it belongs.
- Squirrels, raccoons, bats and mice have moved in; droppings and nesting cover the attic floor.
- Damp ground air rises through the crawl space and feeds mold under the floor.
What changed
- Full-depth insulation keeps conditioned air in the living space where it belongs.
- Warm attic air stays upstairs and vents out at the ridge the way it should.
- Every entry point is sealed and the attic is cleaned and sanitized; nothing lives up there but insulation.
- The crawl space is sealed and dry, so ground moisture stays in the ground.
Built Around Millville Attics & Crawl Spaces
Millville's downtown and Glasstown blocks carry frame houses dating back to the city's 19th and early 20th century run as a national glassmaking center, while most of the rest of the city was built out during the postwar decades, with a median home age landing around 1970. Both eras need real attic and crawl space work, just for different reasons.
Glasstown's early-1900s frame houses and the city's postwar ranches both carry insulation sized to the codes of their decade, decades short of what today's target expects across this stretch of New Jersey.
Union Lake and the Maurice River keep groundwater close to the surface across Millville, and older brick-pier foundations near downtown let that moisture straight into the crawl space above.
Maurice River Township's tree cover runs right up to the city line, and squirrels and raccoons cross onto older roofs in Woodland Shores and the streets near Glasstown through soffit gaps.
Cumberland County's winter cold snaps find every gap in a leaky older attic, and warm air escaping through a balloon-framed roofline melts snow that refreezes into ice dams at the eaves.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do squirrels and raccoons get into a Millville attic?
The usual signs are scratching after dark, droppings scattered along the joists, torn-up insulation balled into a nest, and chewed wiring. Most of the traffic comes off the tree line bordering Maurice River Township, where animals travel onto the roof and push through a gap at the soffit or fascia on older houses near Woodland Shores and downtown.
Do most Millville houses have a basement or a crawl space?
Crawl spaces are far more common here than full basements, especially in the ranch and Cape Cod houses built during the postwar decades and in the older streets near the river. The Maurice River's high water table makes a dug basement more likely to take on water, so builders favored crawl spaces instead, which is why encapsulation gets requested so often in Millville.
Why do crawl spaces stay damp in Millville?
Millville sits along the Maurice River with Union Lake just to the northwest, and the water table under much of the city stays high year round. Vented crawl spaces under older Glasstown-area houses pull that moisture straight in, especially where the foundation is brick pier or stone rather than poured concrete. A sealed vapor barrier keeps the ground and the vents both out of play.
What other towns near Millville does Master Attic serve?
All of Cumberland County. That includes the towns that border Millville directly, Vineland, Deerfield Township, Lawrence Township, Commercial Township and Maurice River Township, plus Bridgeton a few miles west across the county. Our crews are already working this stretch of South Jersey every week.
How much attic insulation does a Millville house need?
Millville sits in the stretch of South Jersey where attic guidance calls for meaningfully more depth than most existing attics were built with. Many of the frame houses near Glasstown and downtown were built well before that standard existed, and even postwar ranches out toward Laurel Lake commonly test at less than half of what is expected now.
Do the older houses near Glasstown Arts District need different work than newer construction?
Often, yes. Many of the frame houses built for the city's glassworkers before 1940 were framed without the fire blocking modern homes have, so the attic floor and the wall cavities below it can share the same open space. We check for that during the inspection, since it changes how insulation gets installed and how any air sealing has to be done.
How long does an attic or crawl space project take in a typical Millville house?
A single-story ranch or Cape Cod out past the old factory blocks is usually the quickest to finish once access is open. The older frame houses near Glasstown often take longer, since contaminated insulation has to come out and the attic gets sanitized first. Crawl space encapsulation timelines depend on how big the space is and the condition of what's already down there, and that detail goes into the written estimate.
Are there rebates available for insulation work in Millville?
Millville is in Atlantic City Electric territory, and the statewide NJ Clean Energy Program funds rebates for insulation and air sealing on top of ACE's own efficiency offerings. Amounts and eligibility rules get revised periodically, so the most reliable way to know what applies to your house is to ask during your free estimate.
