Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. How We Insulate an Attic in Millville
Attic insulation in Millville, New Jersey begins with the same walk-through whether the house is a balloon-framed cottage near Glasstown built for the city's glassworkers or a ranch built during Millville's postwar building years out past Union Lake: we measure what is already up there, find where conditioned air is escaping through the attic floor, and put together a plan that brings the whole space up to today's standard.
The work order is deliberate. Sealing comes first, the flue chase, the wiring penetrations and the attic hatch, because those gaps waste more energy than a thin layer of insulation ever will. Baffles go in at the eaves next so the added depth does not choke off the soffit vents, and blown-in or batt material goes down last, once everything underneath it is sealed and clear. A history of rodents, or material that has taken on water near Riverfront and the older streets by the river, means that insulation is pulled and the attic sanitized before any of that sequence begins.
The estimate is free and it comes in writing: what we found on the walk-through, what we think your attic needs, and why we are recommending it over another option. A balloon-framed attic near downtown or Glasstown often calls for a different sealing sequence than a newer ranch simply because of how the wall cavities were framed, which is exactly the kind of detail the walk-through is meant to catch.
What We Install in Millville Attics
Six options for a Millville, NJ attic, chosen after a free, no-obligation inspection.
What We Find in Millville Attics
The four conditions that bring most attic insulation calls in from Millville, NJ.
Glasstown's frame houses from before 1940 and the ranches built here during the postwar decades both carry insulation sized to their own era, leaving both types well behind the depth South Jersey attics are expected to reach now.
Squirrels and raccoons crossing over from the tree line east of the city work into soffit gaps on older roofs, and by the time a homeowner near Woodland Shores or downtown notices, the insulation underneath is usually too shredded and contaminated to keep.
Snow melts and refreezes on a leaky roofline more times in one Cumberland County winter than most homeowners realize, and each cycle traces back to heat escaping through the attic floor rather than staying where the furnace put it. Sealing that leak is what breaks the pattern.
Several of Glasstown's pre-1940 frame houses were never built with fire blocking, so what looks like an ordinary attic floor can actually connect straight down into the stud bays of the rooms below. Missing that on a walk-through means missing where the air sealing actually needs to happen.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation in Millville: Questions We Get
What depth should attic insulation be in a Millville house?
There is no single figure that works for every house, it depends on what is currently in the attic and how that attic was framed to begin with. Housing stock in this part of Cumberland County was largely built to older, thinner standards, whether that is a balloon-framed house near Glasstown or a ranch from the postwar decades out past Union Lake, and both commonly test below where today's guidance lands. We measure before recommending a number.
How much time should I set aside for an attic insulation appointment in Millville?
There is no fixed number, since it comes down to how the attic is built and how much prep it needs. A ranch or Cape Cod with clear, open access is generally the quickest to finish, while the balloon-framed attics near Glasstown take longer because the crew has to work more carefully around the older framing. We put a specific schedule in writing once we have walked your attic.
Are there rebates for attic insulation work in Millville?
Insulation and air sealing upgrades have qualified for rebates through Atlantic City Electric and the statewide Clean Energy Program before, on top of what ACE offers on its own. Programs get revised often enough that we would rather confirm what is currently running in person than quote a number online that may no longer be accurate.
Do the frame houses near Glasstown need different attic insulation work than newer construction?
Often, yes. A number of the pre-1940 houses built for the glassworks were framed without any separation between the attic and the wall cavities underneath, which was standard practice at the time but is not something a newer ranch or Cape Cod has to deal with. We look for that construction detail specifically, since it changes where sealing has to happen and how insulation gets carried across the floor.
Can new insulation just go over what is already in a Millville attic?
Sometimes, yes. If it is dry and clean, with nothing pointing to rodents ever having been in it, adding on top of what is there is often enough. Once there is dampness, a history of nesting along the tree line near Maurice River Township, or top plates and chases underneath that still need sealing, the old material comes out first instead.
Is blown-in or batt insulation better for a Millville attic?
Most open attic floors, including the ranches out toward Laurel Lake and Oakland Estates, take blown-in well because it settles into every gap. Batts make more sense on sloped ceilings, knee walls and the tighter framing found in some of the older Glasstown houses. Many jobs here use a mix of both, and access is usually what decides it.
Do Master Attic crews cover towns beyond Millville itself?
Master Attic covers all of Cumberland County from this location, reaching Vineland, Deerfield Township and Commercial Township under the same call and the same estimate process. Maurice River Township borders Millville on the east, and Bridgeton sits a short drive to the west.
Why do Millville attics get so hot in the summer?
A lot of it comes down to insulation that was sized for an older decade and ventilation that has not kept pace with it. Once the attic floor is properly insulated and sealed and the soffit-to-ridge airflow is restored, the space above the ceiling runs noticeably cooler, which takes pressure off the ductwork and the rooms below it.
