Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Getting Old Attic Insulation Out in Jackson
Attic insulation removal comes up in Jackson for a handful of clear reasons: material that has gone wet from a roof or duct leak, insulation flattened and moldy under years of storage boxes, or batts that squirrels, raccoons or mice have pulled apart to build a nest. Older attics around Cassville and Whitesville, dating back to the township's 1970s and 80s building years, turn up more of that last kind than the newer colonials in town.
Removal itself runs on a high-powered vacuum system that pulls the old material out through a hose rather than hand-bagging it in the attic, which keeps dust and any contamination contained to the truck outside instead of drifting through the house below. Before the vacuum starts, the crew lays down protective plastic along the path to the attic access and seals off the room underneath, then works the attic floor and rafter bays section by section until everything old is out. Anything soiled by rodents gets sanitized on the spot before new insulation goes back in, since leaving the smell behind is what draws the next animal back to the same soffit gap.
The plan that follows depends on exactly what the inspection turns up underneath the old material. Sometimes the framing and roofline only need air sealing before new blown-in fill or batts go down; other times an opening at the soffit or roofline needs closing first so the work does not have to be repeated. Either way, the removal and whatever comes after it get written into one estimate before anything starts.
What Attic Insulation Removal in Jackson Includes
Six steps that usually follow once old insulation comes out of a Jackson attic, all covered in the same free walk-through.
What Sends Insulation Out of a Jackson Attic
The four conditions that most often mean old material has to go before anything new can.
A roof or duct leak that goes unnoticed for a season is enough to soak a section of batts and start mold growing underneath, and once that happens, the insulation is holding moisture against the framing instead of protecting it.
Squirrels, raccoons and mice pull loose insulation into nesting piles and leave droppings behind, and Jackson's wooded lots near the edge of the Pine Barrens mean this turns up more often here than in towns closer to the coast.
Sections of Jackson built during the township's 1970s and 80s housing boom carry insulation laid to a far thinner standard than what current guidance calls for, and topping it rarely makes sense once it has flattened this much over the decades.
Getting a hose and a crew member into a cramped older attic in Cassville or Whitesville takes real staging, unlike the open floor and pull-down stair most newer colonials offer, and that difference alone can add real time to a job.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation Removal in Jackson: Questions We Get
What tells you an attic in Jackson needs insulation pulled instead of just topped up?
Look for a musty smell, insulation that is flattened, discolored or damp to the touch, or any sign that an animal has been living in it, droppings, a matted nesting spot, or a sharp odor near the soffits. Dry, undisturbed batts can usually just be topped with new material, but anything wet or contaminated needs to come out first.
Do you install new insulation right after removal, or is that a separate trip?
It depends on what else the attic needs. If the framing just needs a quick air-sealing pass first, new insulation can often go in during one continuous stop. If a rodent entry point needs sealing or the attic needs sanitizing, that gets handled first, and the schedule for both steps is part of your estimate.
Are there New Jersey incentives that help cover insulation removal in Jackson?
Pulling out old material rarely qualifies for a rebate on its own, but the fresh insulation that goes back in behind it sometimes does. Jackson runs on JCP&L power, and state efficiency programs have funded insulation projects in past seasons. We flag whatever currently applies before finalizing your estimate.
How long does it take to remove insulation from a Jackson attic?
It depends on the size of the attic, how contaminated the material is, and how easy the access is. A newer colonial with an open, walkable attic clears out faster than an older Cassville attic reached through a tight scuttle hole. You will see the actual timeframe spelled out when the estimate comes together.
What actually happens during an insulation removal visit?
A high-powered vacuum pulls the old material out through a hose run from the attic to a truck outside, which keeps dust and any contamination away from the living space below. The crew protects the path to the attic access first, then works the floor and rafter bays until the old insulation is gone.
Is removal always necessary before rodent proofing an attic?
Not always, but they usually go together in Jackson. If wildlife has nested in the insulation, pulling out what is contaminated and sealing the entry point at the same time keeps the smell from drawing another animal back to the same spot. We handle both in one estimate so nothing gets left half finished.
What towns besides Jackson does your removal crew cover?
Our crews cover the length of Ocean County, Lakewood and Toms River on one side, Manchester on the other, and don't stop at the county line either. Freehold Township and Howell, just over in Monmouth County, get the same regular service, so a removal job here rarely means a long wait to get on the schedule.
Can I just remove the old insulation myself and save on the job?
We would steer you away from it. Removed insulation can carry contaminants, mold spores, rodent waste, fiberglass particles, that a vacuum-contained system handles far more safely than bagging material by hand in a cramped attic. Given how little is saved doing it yourself, it is one job worth leaving to a crew set up for it.
