Attic Services
Many of Glassboro's oldest houses cluster around downtown and Rowan Boulevard, balloon-framed homes from the borough's glass-making decades that were never insulated at all. The split-levels and colonials that filled in through the 1950s and 60s postwar boom usually got some insulation, but only a thin layer next to what this part of New Jersey calls for now. Either era needs air sealing before new blown-in insulation goes in.

Squirrels chew wiring and tear up insulation once they get into an attic. We remove them and close the entry points.
Squirrel Removal →A raccoon can wreck attic insulation and ductwork in weeks and leave dangerous droppings behind. Safe removal plus repair of the damage.
Raccoon Removal →Bats roost in quiet attic corners and their droppings contaminate everything below. Humane exclusion plus full cleanup.
Bat Removal →Mice squeeze in through gaps the width of a pencil, nest in the insulation and leave droppings across the attic floor. Removal, then sealing the gaps so they stay out.
Attic Mice Removal →Wildlife tears openings where the roof meets the walls, and every gap is an open door. We seal the entry points and repair the damage.
Rodent Proofing →Thin, patchy insulation lets heated and cooled air escape into the attic all year. Upgrading it cuts energy bills.
Attic Insulation →Moisture in the crawl space feeds mold and rots the framing under your floor. Encapsulation seals out the damp ground air.
Crawl Space Encapsulation →New batts fill every joist bay edge to edge, so heated and cooled air stays in the rooms below instead of bleeding into the attic. Lower bills, even temperatures.
Attic Insulation →A vented ridge lets hot, moist air escape at the peak while baffles keep the soffit intake open. Balanced airflow protects the roof deck and keeps the new insulation dry.
Attic Ventilation →The roofline gap the wildlife used is sealed with rodent-proof mesh and sealant, along with every other opening we found. Nothing gets back in.
Rodent Proofing →Droppings, nesting debris and the contaminated insulation are gone, and the framing is treated so odors and bacteria do not linger in the air you breathe.
Attic Cleanup →A sealed vapor barrier covers the ground and walls, so damp soil air can no longer feed mold or rot the floor framing above it.
Crawl Space Encapsulation →What is going wrong here
- Thin, patchy attic insulation lets heated and cooled air leak up into the attic, and the energy bill pays for every bit of it.
- Warm air pours out through the roofline gap and the ridge instead of staying where it belongs.
- Squirrels, raccoons, bats and mice have moved in; droppings and nesting cover the attic floor.
- Damp ground air rises through the crawl space and feeds mold under the floor.
What changed
- Full-depth insulation keeps conditioned air in the living space where it belongs.
- Warm attic air stays upstairs and vents out at the ridge the way it should.
- Every entry point is sealed and the attic is cleaned and sanitized; nothing lives up there but insulation.
- The crawl space is sealed and dry, so ground moisture stays in the ground.
Built Around Glassboro Attics & Crawl Spaces
Glassboro's population barely topped two thousand in 1880 and has grown tenfold since, first through the glass works, then through the postwar boom of the 1950s and 60s, and now through Rowan University's expansion downtown. Each wave left its own kind of attic behind, most never brought current.
Houses near downtown and Rowan Boulevard date to Glassboro's glass-making decades and were built with balloon framing and no attic insulation at all, decades before batts were standard practice.
Ranches and splits west of Delsea Drive were commonly built over a crawl space rather than a basement, and the area's sandy soil lets damp air settle underneath most summers.
A large share of Glassboro's rental housing near Rowan University turns over every year, and roofline gaps that let mice and squirrels in can go unnoticed for a while.
Gloucester County sees less snow than North Jersey, but Glassboro gets enough freeze-thaw cycles most winters for attic air leaks to melt snow unevenly and build ice at the eaves.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the right amount of attic insulation for a Glassboro house?
For an unfinished attic, the coverage current guidance calls for in this part of New Jersey is well beyond what most existing houses were ever given. Many of the balloon-framed houses near downtown Glassboro that date to the borough's glass-making era have none of the original ceiling insulation at all, so we are often starting from zero rather than topping off old batts.
What do mice or squirrels in a Glassboro attic usually look like?
Scratching after dark, droppings scattered along the joists, and insulation pulled into loose nesting piles are the usual signs. With so much rental housing turning over near Rowan University, entry points at the roofline or soffit often go unnoticed for a year or more between tenants. We seal the opening, clear out what has been fouled, and sanitize the space as part of the same job.
How long does an attic job take on a house like the ones near downtown Glassboro?
A straightforward blown-in job in a postwar split or colonial moves quickly once the crew gets started. The balloon-framed houses closer to downtown can run longer because access is tighter and there is often decades of old, uninsulated framing to work around, sometimes with rodent cleanup layered on top. We confirm the schedule for your specific attic before work starts.
Why do ice dams form on Glassboro roofs even though South Jersey does not get heavy snow?
Gloucester County sees less total snowfall than North Jersey, but it still gets enough freeze and thaw swings most winters to cause problems. Warm air leaking from a poorly sealed attic melts snow on the upper roof, which refreezes at the cold eaves and backs water up under the shingles. Sealing those air leaks, not just adding insulation, is what actually breaks the cycle.
Which Gloucester County towns near Glassboro do you cover?
All of Gloucester County, including the towns that actually border Glassboro: Pitman, Clayton, Mantua, Washington Township and Elk Township. We also run crews into Camden County and the rest of South Jersey, Cherry Hill included, so ask us about your specific address if you are just outside these lines.
Is crawl space encapsulation really necessary in Glassboro's sandy soil?
The sand under most Glassboro lots drains fast, but it still holds enough moisture close to the surface that unsealed crawl space vents pull in humid air most of the year. That damp air condenses against the framing, so encapsulation with a sealed vapor barrier over the ground is what keeps a crawl space, and the floor above it, dry.
Do Atlantic City Electric customers in Glassboro qualify for insulation rebates?
Glassboro is served by Atlantic City Electric, and the statewide NJ Clean Energy Program has periodically offered rebates for insulation and air sealing work regardless of which utility serves your address. Program details and funding change, so we will tell you what is currently available when we come out for your free estimate.
Do newer houses near Rowan University still need attic or crawl space work?
Yes. Even the newest construction around Rowan Boulevard and 55-plus communities like Village Grande at Camelot can have inconsistent insulation depth or gaps left at plumbing and wiring penetrations, details that are easy to miss during original construction. We inspect new and old Glassboro attics and crawl spaces the same way, checking depth, air leaks and ventilation rather than assuming a newer build date means nothing is needed.
