Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Insulate an Attic in Princeton Junction
Attic insulation work in Princeton Junction, New Jersey covers a wide range of houses: 1920s originals in Berrien City, ranches and colonials built through the 1960s, 70s and 80s in Sherbrooke Estates and Windsor Chase, and townhomes finished near the train station in the last decade. Before any material goes down, we open the attic, measure what is already there, and find where the rooms below it are losing conditioned air.
Sealing comes before insulating. A colonial here that adds a two-story foyer, a bonus room above the garage or a cathedral ceiling gets framing that rises straight into the rafters, acting like an open duct into the attic until it is closed off, along with the hatch and any gaps around ductwork or the flue. Baffles go in at the soffit so new insulation does not choke off the intake vents, and only once that groundwork is done does the blown-in or batt material actually go down.
A history of water damage, matted-down batts, or nesting from a squirrel or raccoon changes the order: that material has to be pulled and the space cleaned up before we will put anything fresh over it. Whatever the walkthrough turns up, the recommendation and the reasoning behind it come back in writing, so a Berrien City original and a newer townhome near the station each get a plan built around how they were actually framed.
Attic Insulation Options in Princeton Junction
Six ways to bring a Princeton Junction attic up to today's standard, decided during a free inspection.
What We Find in Princeton Junction Attics
The four conditions that drive most attic insulation calls in Princeton Junction, New Jersey.
Most ranches and colonials built through Princeton Junction's postwar decades still carry the insulation their era called for, which falls noticeably short of what an attic in this part of New Jersey is expected to hold today. Piling new depth onto that without sealing what is leaking underneath it just wastes the material.
A colonial with a room built over the garage or a vaulted ceiling stretching up into the roofline gives conditioned air more surface to escape through, not less. Reaching every one of those angled planes takes more than a straight blow across a flat attic floor, which is part of why we walk each attic before quoting the work.
A mature tree standing close to the roofline in the older streets around Berrien City puts a squirrel or raccoon within reach of a worn soffit board, and once one gets through, its bedding and droppings have to be cleared out and the surface disinfected ahead of any new insulation.
A Princeton Junction roof does not need a hard freeze to grow an ice dam. A few degrees of warm air escaping through a thin attic floor is enough to melt snow from underneath, and that water refreezes the moment it reaches the unheated overhang. Closing the leak is the half of the fix that happens inside the attic.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation in Princeton Junction: Questions We Get
What all gets covered during an attic insulation visit here?
The walkthrough notes current depth and condition, where air is escaping into the attic, ventilation, and any sign of wildlife. From there the plan usually pairs sealing the top plates, hatch and any chases with new blown-in or batt insulation, and removal first if the existing material is damaged. What a specific attic needs comes out of that walkthrough, not a standard package.
How long does attic insulation typically take in Princeton Junction?
A quick top-up over insulation that is already sound is one of the faster jobs we do. A two-story colonial with several chases to seal, or an attic where the old material has to be pulled first, adds hours to that. Your written estimate spells out the timing once we know which situation your attic falls into.
Does Princeton Junction qualify for any insulation rebates?
West Windsor Township sits in PSE&G service territory, and efficiency incentives from the utility or the state have shown up on insulation and air sealing invoices here before. Since what is actually open changes, mention it during your inspection and we will let you know what fits your attic.
Do the newer townhomes built near the train station need attic insulation work too?
Yes. A townhome finished in the last decade meets a higher baseline standard than a 1960s ranch, but it still gets inspected the same way: depth, air leaks and ventilation checked before we recommend anything. Builders sometimes leave gaps around plumbing chases or the attic hatch that are worth sealing even in newer construction.
Blown-in or batts for a Princeton Junction attic?
Both get used here. Blown-in fills an open attic floor quickly and works around wiring and framing without gaps, while batts handle knee walls, sloped ceilings and the tight bays under a cathedral ceiling where loose fill will not stay put. Colonials with a bonus room over the garage often end up with both in different sections of the same attic.
Is a full tear-out required before you will add new attic insulation?
No, not for every attic. If the existing batts are dry, undisturbed and free of pests, new material can usually go right over them. A history of dampness, flattening, or a squirrel or raccoon having nested there, something we see often enough in the older streets near Berrien City and Grovers Mill, is what moves an attic into the removal-first category.
Do your attic insulation crews reach beyond Princeton Junction itself?
Hightstown and East Windsor sit just south, Cranbury is a short drive east, and Plainsboro wraps around Princeton Junction to the north, with Princeton itself close behind. Attic insulation crews rotate through all of them on a normal week, plus the wider Mercer County area.
Why does the bonus room over my garage never stay comfortable?
A room built over an unheated garage has insulation on more sides than a normal room, and if any of those planes, especially the knee walls and the floor over the garage ceiling, were shorted at construction, that room lags behind the rest of the house no matter the season. We check those planes specifically on any Princeton Junction colonial with a bonus room.
