Removing Raccoons From North Brunswick Attics & Crawl Spaces
Raccoons get into a North Brunswick attic the same way in almost every case: climbing a tree or downspout to roof height, then working at a soffit gap, a broken vent screen or a weak spot at the roofline until it gives. That is especially common through the older, tree-shaded parts of town, Maple Meade and Berdines Corner among them, since mature canopy puts a raccoon at the roof edge without much effort.
Below, a raccoon reaches a crawl space by tearing at a foundation vent, working a gap beneath a crawl door, or pulling loose skirting away from the framing, and once inside it tears at insulation and leaves waste behind just as it would in an attic. However it got in, removal stays humane: a one-way door hung over the confirmed opening lets the animal go out to feed on its own, and for a situation that calls for more, a mother with young too small to travel being the usual case, humane trapping takes over.
Once the raccoon is out, we seal the entry point at the roofline or the crawl space so nothing follows the same path back in, then clean up and sanitize whatever insulation or ductwork it damaged. Estimates do not cost anything, and a single visit prices out the attic and the crawl space together on the calls where a raccoon turns out to have used both.

Where Raccoons Get Into North Brunswick Attics & Crawl Spaces
Four ways raccoons commonly reach an attic or crawl space in North Brunswick.
A raccoon that climbs a tree or downspout to roof height only needs one weak soffit panel or a gap at the roofline to get into the attic, and the tree canopy along the older blocks near Maple Meade makes that climb an easy one.
Once inside, a raccoon flattens a nesting area into the insulation and can tear at ductwork or wiring nearby, damage that usually is not visible until the insulation is checked directly, which is part of every raccoon inspection we do.
A weak foundation vent, pulled-back skirting, or a poor seal at the crawl door gives a raccoon a way underneath the floor that mirrors the roofline entry above, and this version often goes unnoticed longer since nobody checks down there as often.
In the townhouse rows at Renaissance and Governors Pointe, one long shared roofline means a raccoon that gets in at one end can move along the attic space toward another unit, so we check the full row, not just the section where the noise was heard.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Raccoon Removal in North Brunswick: Questions We Get
How do I know if a raccoon, and not something smaller, is in my North Brunswick attic?
Heavy thumping or scratching overhead at night, torn or flattened insulation, a strong odor, and gaps or damage at the roofline or crawl vents are the usual signs. Raccoons make a lot more noise than a mouse or squirrel moving around, size alone gives them away, but the entry point tells us where the animal has actually been going in and out.
How long does raccoon removal take in North Brunswick?
It depends on how the raccoon is using the space. A single adult that leaves through a one-way door within a few nights moves faster than a mother with young, which takes longer since we wait until the babies are old enough to travel with her. We put the schedule in writing as part of the estimate once we know what we are dealing with.
Does insulation replaced after a raccoon problem qualify for NJ incentives?
North Brunswick is PSE&G territory, and any new insulation installed after the raccoon work is done has, at times, been eligible through the NJ Clean Energy Program, though the removal itself is not. Ask what currently applies when we are out for the estimate.
Do raccoons return to the same opening after they are removed?
They can, if the opening is not fully sealed or if food and shelter are still available nearby. Permanently closing the confirmed entry point once the raccoon is out is the step that actually stops it, along with checking the rest of the roofline or crawl perimeter for other weak spots while we are already there.
What's actually involved in physically getting a raccoon out once it has gotten inside?
A one-way door mounted right at the confirmed opening is the first tool we reach for, it lets the animal out to feed and stops it from climbing back inside. Situations that need more than that, most often a mother with young too small to travel, get humane trapping instead. The opening is permanently sealed once we confirm the raccoon is gone.
Do you clean and reinsulate after a raccoon is removed?
Usually, yes. Raccoon waste and flattened insulation are health and performance concerns on their own, so sanitizing and, where needed, replacing the insulation are typically recommended right after removal rather than left for a separate visit. The inspection settles whether that means the attic, the crawl space, or a bit of both.
What nearby towns do you handle raccoon calls in besides North Brunswick?
New Brunswick and East Brunswick sit along one edge of the township, Milltown and South Brunswick along another, with Somerset and Princeton Junction not far past them. Raccoon calls come in from all of these regularly, especially in the tree-heavy older sections.
I hear noise in my Renaissance or Governors Pointe attic at night. Could it be a raccoon?
It could be. Shared rooflines in those townhouse sections give a raccoon a long path to move along once it gets in at one end, so the noise might be coming from a spot several units away from where you hear it. We check the whole row during the inspection, not just your section.
