Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Basement & Crawl Space Cleanup in Cliffside Park
A Cliffside Park basement holds up differently than a basement somewhere with more room to build, since the two-family frame houses that fill the borough tend to have below-grade space sized to match a tight lot rather than a sprawling one. Over the decades that space collects rim joist insulation that has fallen away, whatever a previous owner left behind, and, in a house shared between two households, sometimes twice the traffic and twice the storage a single-family basement would see.
The rarer job, an addition or enclosed porch built on the sloped end of a lot, gets its own small crawl space instead of a basement, and Bergen County's slow-draining clay soil keeps that ground wetter than the main foundation ever gets. Either way, we go in by hand and with a vacuum, pull out what has failed or does not belong, and check for signs that a mouse or something larger has been using the space as shelter.
Anywhere rodents have clearly been active gets sanitized once it is cleared, since in a shared two-family basement that activity is rarely confined to one side. Cleanup on its own gets the space back to a workable state, and it is frequently the step that has to happen before rim joist insulation, encapsulation or sealing work can start, all of which lands on the same free, written estimate.

What Cleanup Turns Up in Cliffside Park
The four conditions our crews run into most in Cliffside Park basements and the occasional crawl space.
The band of insulation around the top of a Cliffside Park foundation wears out well before the rest of the basement shows any trouble, and it is usually the first thing a cleanup crew finds sagging, gone, or reduced to scraps still stapled in place.
Where the Palisades grade drops a lot toward the back, Bergen County's clay soil holds water against whatever is built lowest, usually an addition or enclosed porch, and anything stored or installed down there tends to come out damp during cleanup rather than dry.
A two-family basement often sits under both units at once, so droppings or nesting material near a party wall or utility penetration is rarely a problem for just one household. We treat the whole space as a single job when we sanitize it.
Because Cliffside Park was built mostly with basements, our crews spend most of a cleanup call working upright in a full-height space rather than crouched in a crawl space, and the rare addition crawl space we do open up gets handled with the same low-clearance approach used elsewhere.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Crawlspace & Basement Cleanup in Cliffside Park: Questions We Get
What actually happens during a basement cleanup in a Cliffside Park two-family house?
We clear out failed rim joist insulation, old debris and anything left from a previous renovation, and if there is any evidence of rodent activity, the space gets sanitized once it is empty. A full-height basement is what most Cliffside Park properties actually have below grade, so that is the version of this job we run most often here.
Is a crawl space cleanup handled any differently from a basement cleanup?
The principles are the same, clear the debris, pull anything failed, sanitize where rodents have been, but the physical work changes. A basement lets our crew move freely, while an addition or porch crawl space means working low and close to the framing the whole time, which changes how long the job takes more than what it covers.
Does PSE&G or the state ever put money toward this kind of work?
Cleanup alone rarely qualifies for anything, since it counts as preparation rather than an efficiency upgrade. Once new insulation or a vapor barrier follows, PSE&G and the state's Clean Energy Program can become relevant, and we will flag anything your project might be eligible for once we understand the full scope.
If both units of a two-family house share one basement, do you split the job between owners?
We look at it as one space rather than dividing the estimate by unit, since the debris, the rim joist and any rodent activity usually affect both sides regardless of who reported the problem. Sorting out billing between two households is a separate conversation from the cleanup itself, which we are glad to help coordinate.
How do you decide what stays and what has to go?
Anything wet, damaged beyond use or actively harboring rodents comes out, while material that is dry and intact usually stays unless it is in the way of something else that does need attention. That call gets made in person, since photos rarely tell the whole story of what a Cliffside Park basement is actually holding onto.
Should cleanup happen before new insulation or encapsulation goes in?
It usually has to. Fresh insulation or a sealed liner needs a clean, dry surface underneath to actually do its job, so wherever debris or failed material is already sitting there, clearing it out comes first. In many cases we can run cleanup and the next step back to back rather than as two separate appointments.
How far past Cliffside Park does this kind of cleanup service extend?
Ridgefield, Fort Lee, Edgewater and Fairview all get the same cleanup service as the Bergen County towns closest to Cliffside Park, and it carries into Hudson County for North Bergen plus up toward Englewood along the ridge. Two-family and multi-family basements built the same way turn up all along that stretch.
What happens to everything that gets hauled out?
Everything gets bagged or boxed for proper disposal, whether that is old rim joist insulation, a torn liner, or general debris, handled the way each material actually needs to be. You are not left with a pile in the driveway once the crew is finished, and anything we remove is documented on the estimate so there is no confusion about what was there.
