Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Two Ways a Raccoon Gets Into a Bergenfield Property
Overhead, Bergenfield's close-set lots put mature trees within easy reach of a lot of rooflines, and a raccoon that climbs one usually finds a soffit or fascia seam loosened by age on an older cape or colonial. Below, it is a foundation vent, a crawl door, or a section of skirting on one of the shallow crawl spaces built under additions on those same houses that tends to give first. Either way, the work opens with locating the actual gap in use, not just reacting to the noise.
Confirming the opening comes before doing anything about it. From there, a one-way device fitted over the gap generally handles a single adult, letting it exit on its own schedule while blocking the way back in; a den still holding young that cannot yet travel calls for humane trapping instead, timed around when the whole litter is ready to move out together. With everyone out, the damage gets tallied, flattened insulation, chewed ductwork, a torn liner underneath, and the space is disinfected before the opening itself is closed off.
One free, written estimate covers both the exclusion and any cleanup the space still needs. An attic den left undisturbed for weeks in an older Bergenfield colonial typically leaves more behind than a raccoon that only recently found its way under a crawl space addition, and sorting out which is which is what the inspection is for.
What Raccoon Removal in Bergenfield Includes
Once an entry point is found, here is what else the inspection tends to turn up.
What Bergenfield Raccoon Calls Usually Have in Common
Four patterns behind most of the exclusion work we handle around the borough.
Dense blocks near Cooper's Pond sit under heavy tree cover that extends right up to the eaves, and a worn soffit or fascia seam on an older cape or colonial is frequently all the access a raccoon needs.
A number of Bergenfield houses carry a shallow crawl space added on beneath a later addition, and the vents and doors on those spaces loosen with age, giving a raccoon a gap wide enough to work open.
Even a short stay in an attic leaves insulation flattened and soiled around the den, sometimes with torn ductwork nearby, which usually pushes the job toward removal rather than a simple cleanup once the raccoon is gone.
A cramped addition crawl space calls for different gear and a different approach than an open cape or colonial attic, which is why both areas get checked during the inspection before anything gets quoted.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Raccoon Removal in Bergenfield: Questions We Get
What actually happens when you remove a raccoon in Bergenfield?
We start by tracking down the specific gap the animal is using, up on the roofline or down at a foundation vent or crawl door, since guessing wastes everyone's time. A one-way device goes over that opening so the raccoon can leave but not return. Once we have confirmed nothing is left inside, the opening is closed permanently and any damage or mess gets addressed.
What determines how long a Bergenfield raccoon job takes?
Whether there are young raccoons involved is the biggest factor, since a female will not leave her litter until the young can move under their own power. A lone adult gets excluded fairly quickly. Once we have assessed the den in person, a schedule specific to your situation goes into the written estimate.
Is there any rebate that helps with raccoon damage repairs in Bergenfield?
Insulation replaced after raccoon damage sometimes lines up with the same NJ Clean Energy Program funding available for any other insulation job, since Bergenfield runs on PSE&G. It is not automatic and depends on what is currently open, so we look into it as part of your estimate rather than promising anything up front.
If a raccoon is excluded, is that opening permanently done with?
It should be, once we have physically closed it. A one-way device alone is a temporary measure, not the final fix, so the actual gap in the roofline or foundation gets sealed with permanent material only after the space is confirmed empty. That is what keeps another animal from finding the same weak spot later.
How do I know whether a raccoon is up in the attic or down in the crawl space?
Attic activity tends to be obvious overnight, thumping and scratching overhead, sometimes with visible chew or entry damage on the roofline itself. Crawl space activity is subtler: a vent knocked loose, insulation disturbed near an access point, or an odd smell working up into the rooms above through the floor. We walk both areas regardless, since either can be in play.
Do you just seal the hole, or handle the mess too?
Both get covered when the job calls for it. Sealing an entry point shut while insulation is still ripped up, ductwork is still chewed through, or a crawl space liner is still torn just buries the actual problem, so cleanup and sanitizing ride along with the exclusion itself whenever a raccoon has caused enough damage to justify it.
Is Bergenfield the only town your raccoon crews cover?
No. Dumont, Teaneck, New Milford, Cresskill, Tenafly and Englewood see the same crews on a routine basis, and Bergen County as a whole is where our raccoon calls come from day to day. A raccoon problem does not stop being ours to handle just because a house sits a block or two outside Bergenfield's own borders.
What is the actual risk of having a raccoon under a Bergenfield house?
A cornered raccoon, particularly a female guarding young, can act defensively, and raccoons are among the wildlife known to carry rabies in New Jersey, so we would rather our crew make contact with the animal than a homeowner. There is also a practical concern once it is gone: a chewed vapor barrier and soiled insulation left behind can keep affecting air quality upstairs.
