Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Insulate an Attic in Bergenfield
A Bergenfield attic job opens with a walk-through rather than a guess. We note the depth and shape of whatever insulation is already there, whether the roof belongs to a cape with a finished half story tucked behind kneewalls, a colonial, or a split-level, and we trace where room air below is slipping up past the ceiling before writing a single recommendation.
Sealing comes before anything gets blown or laid down. Closing off the flue chase, recessed can lights and the attic hatch happens first, and channels are set at the soffits so the vents keep working once the new depth sits on top of them. From there the choice is blown-in fill for a colonial or split-level's open floor, or batts fitted into a cape's sloped kneewall pockets, which loose material tends to slide right out of. Material that has been nested in or fouled, a problem that concentrates on the blocks ringing Cooper's Pond where the tree canopy grows closest to the roof edge, gets pulled under vacuum and the attic sanitized first.
A free, written estimate follows every inspection, laying out what we saw and what we would do about it rather than repeating the same package house to house. A colonial's open attic and a cape's narrow kneewall pocket rarely need identical work, and with Bergen County's winters running colder than most of the state, getting both the depth and the sealing right matters more here than in milder towns.
Six Ways We Bring a Bergenfield Attic Up to Standard
What a Bergenfield attic insulation job most often involves, once the free inspection tells us what is actually up there.
Conditions Behind Most Bergenfield Attic Insulation Calls
What tends to be true of the attic before we ever bring insulation into the conversation.
A large share of Bergenfield's capes, colonials and split-levels were framed during the borough's fastest stretch of growth, and plenty of those attics have never had a second pass of insulation added since the crew that built the house first left it.
Lots near Cooper's Pond sit close together under mature trees, and squirrels and raccoons use that cover to reach an older soffit or fascia seam, working the gap open enough to get at whatever insulation is behind it.
Bergen County holds its snow longer than towns closer to the shore, and any warmth escaping through a gap in the attic floor melts that snowpack from underneath, sending meltwater down to refreeze right at the cold overhang.
The narrow triangle of attic space behind a cape's kneewalls sits out of sight from the main floor, and it is easy for both insulation problems and air leaks to go unnoticed there far longer than anywhere out in the open.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation in Bergenfield: Questions We Get
What actually happens during a Bergenfield attic insulation visit?
We inspect what is up there, check for air leaks and ventilation problems, then seal the top plates, chases and hatch before any material goes down. Baffles go in at the soffits, and blown-in or batt insulation follows, with old or wildlife-contaminated material pulled first if the inspection calls for it. All of it is written into one estimate before work begins.
How long does it take to insulate an attic in Bergenfield?
That depends entirely on the attic in front of us. Topping off dry, clean material is quick work. Pulling out old insulation, cleaning up after wildlife, or maneuvering through a cape's tight kneewall space all add time. You will see a schedule specific to your attic written into the estimate before anyone starts.
Are there any rebates for insulating a Bergenfield attic?
PSE&G is the utility here, and insulation and air sealing projects have qualified for NJ Clean Energy Program money before, though the specific offerings move around from one year to the next. Bring it up at your free estimate and we will walk you through whatever is currently on the table.
Can insulating the attic actually stop ice dams on a Bergenfield roof?
It can, paired with sealing. Ice dams form because warm air escaping through the attic floor melts snow from below, and that meltwater refreezes once it reaches the cold eave. Closing the leaks and bringing the depth up removes the heat source feeding that cycle instead of just piling on more material.
Should a Bergenfield cape get batts or blown-in insulation?
It usually comes down to shape. An open colonial or split-level attic takes blown-in well because there are no odd angles to work around. A cape's kneewall pockets and sloped sections often need batts instead, since loose fill has nowhere to rest on a slope. Plenty of Bergenfield attics end up using both.
Do you always remove the old insulation first?
No, not if it is dry and clean. New blown-in material can go right over it in that case. Pulling it out becomes necessary once wildlife has denned there, a pattern that shows up more on blocks close to Cooper's Pond, or once it is covering gaps in the top plates that still need attention.
What other towns near Bergenfield do you insulate attics in?
Our crews are regularly in Englewood, Teaneck, Dumont, Tenafly, Cresskill and New Milford, all of which border Bergenfield directly, and we cover the rest of Bergen County on the same routine basis. If a specific street isn't named here, chances are we have already worked somewhere nearby it.
My Bergenfield house was built recently. Does it still need this?
Often, yes. Builders still leave small gaps behind can lights, along duct runs and around the hatch no matter how new the framing is, and those spots add up more than people expect. Walking a particular attic in person, not its age on paper, is what actually settles the question, which is the whole point of the free inspection.
