Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Sealing Rodent Entry Points in Bergenfield
Rodent proofing is entry-point work. Find every gap a squirrel, raccoon, mouse or bat is using, close it, and clear out whatever got left behind. In Bergenfield that means two very different jobs on the same lot. Above the roofline, mature trees along Washington Avenue and near Cooper's Pond put wildlife right at soffit height, and plenty of the borough's capes and colonials still carry the fascia boards they were built with in the 1920s and 30s. Down at ground level, an addition's crawl door or a loose vent is a separate way in for mice, unrelated to anything happening on the roof.
Removal, where it is needed, is humane: a one-way device lets an animal leave without ever letting it return, nothing chemical, nothing baited. Once a space checks out empty, every opening involved gets sealed for good, not just patched. Only then does the cleanup start: nests pressed into insulation, tracks along the joists, a chewed edge marking the old entry. Contaminated material comes out, the attic or crawl space gets sanitized, and new insulation goes back in where it is needed.
Every estimate is free and comes in writing, and it covers whatever combination of attic and crawl space a Bergenfield lot actually needs, since a rodent problem here is rarely limited to one. It spells out where the gaps are, what has to be pulled, and what closing the house up properly involves, based on what the inspection turns up rather than a fixed list of steps.
What Rodent Proofing in Bergenfield Includes
Six calls that tend to follow a wildlife problem here, each one folded into the same free inspection.
What We Find in Bergenfield Attics & Crawl Spaces
What tends to be behind most of the wildlife calls we take across Bergenfield, NJ.
Street trees along Cooper's Pond and the older blocks put a squirrel or raccoon at roofline height without much effort, and a fascia gap dating to the 1920s or 30s build-out is usually the opening they use. It is the first thing checked on nearly every call here.
Wherever an animal nested, the insulation right there ends up flattened and fouled, material that has to be pulled before the attic can be resealed properly. This shows up in capes, colonials and split-levels alike; the age of the rest of the house does not change it.
An addition tacked onto an older house usually has its own shallow crawl space, and a loose door or an old vent there gives mice a way in that has nothing to do with the roof above. We check it on every single visit.
The crawl space entry is the smallest opening on most Bergenfield houses, and reaching every gap through it takes longer than the same work in a walkable attic. That gets built into the plan before anyone starts working.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Rodent Proofing in Bergenfield: Questions We Get
Does rodent proofing here rely on poison or traps?
No. Openings get found and closed. Where an animal is still inside, it comes out through a humane, one-way method rather than poison or bait, and the gap only gets sealed once the space is confirmed empty. Sealing and removal working together is what stops wildlife from coming back, not either one by itself.
What is the timeline for a job like this?
A handful of roofline gaps on a straightforward house is quick. Contamination from nesting, or a soffit torn wide enough that closing it off takes real time, stretches it. Where framing has to be rebuilt before anything can be sealed, that is a carpenter you hire separately. Whatever your job specifically calls for lands on the written estimate first, so nothing gets decided once a van is already parked outside.
Are there New Jersey incentives that apply here?
What a utility program actually funds rarely covers exclusion by itself, though insulation replaced afterward is a different story. Bergenfield sits in PSE&G territory, so ask what the NJ Clean Energy Program currently covers when you call to schedule an estimate, since what qualifies shifts over time.
What is different about proofing an attic versus a crawl space here?
Different entry points, same overall approach. Roofline gaps sit above; crawl doors and vents sit below, at ground level. Locate the opening, close it, clean up what was left. Because so many Bergenfield lots pair a full basement with an addition's crawl space, both kinds of entry show up on a single property more than you would expect.
How do you figure out what a Bergenfield property specifically needs?
By inspecting it first. Roofline, soffits, any crawl space under an addition, the condition of what insulation is already there. That walk-through settles whether the job is just closing openings or whether pulling and replacing insulation needs to happen too, along with sanitizing whatever the animals reached.
Does insulation always get replaced after exclusion work?
Only where wildlife actually reached it. Untouched insulation usually stays. Soiled or nested-in material gets pulled and replaced, because the smell and contamination linger well past the point the opening itself is closed, sitting inside the attic or crawl space otherwise for as long as it is left there.
Which towns bordering Bergenfield do your crews also cover?
Cresskill, Dumont, Tenafly, Teaneck, New Milford and Englewood ring the borough on every side, and our crews visit each of them regularly, plus the wider Bergen County area. Wildlife pays no attention to a line on a map, so the coverage does not stop at one either, right down to New Bridge Road and every block past it.
Is exclusion work safe around pets and small kids?
Yes. It is about closing gaps and moving animals out humanely, never setting bait or poison down anywhere near the house. Everything used to seal an opening or sanitize a space afterward is a standard building material, nothing that reads as a pest treatment product.
