Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Insulate an Attic in Englewood
An attic insulation job in Englewood begins the same way whether the roofline sits over a two-family near Downtown Englewood or a ranch off Liberty Road: we open the hatch, measure what is already there, and trace where the floor below is bleeding conditioned air upward. Balloon-framed Victorians and Edwardians near downtown often carry open stud bays that run uninterrupted from foundation to rafters, a detail that changes the plan before any new material goes down.
Sealing comes first: the top plate seams, the chimney surround, the pull-down stair or hatch frame, and any can lights punched through the ceiling all get closed before the new material goes down. A house can hold real depth overhead and still run cold if those gaps stay open. Once that is done, baffles go in at the soffit to keep the eave venting, and if the material already up there has gone damp, flattened, or has squirrels or raccoons denning in it, it gets pulled out under vacuum before we add anything fresh.
Every estimate comes free and in writing, spelling out what the walk-through turned up, which approach fits that particular roofline, and the reasoning behind it. A tight balloon-framed bay near downtown calls for a different plan than an open Liberty Road attic, and the actual condition of the space, not a form answer that fits every town, is what the crew bases the recommendation on.
What We Install in Englewood Attics
Six paths to a better-insulated attic in Englewood, each one starting with a free inspection.
What We Find in Englewood Attics
What shows up on nearly every Englewood attic-insulation inspection we run.
Downtown two-families and the Tudors filling in East Hill were each insulated to whatever their decade called for, and even the newest Liberty Road construction can fall short of what today's guidance expects overhead, which is why the inspection starts by measuring what is actually up there.
Squirrels and raccoons reach plenty of Englewood rooflines without ever touching the ground, riding tree limbs that overhang the older streets in East Hill and the Fourth Ward, and a soffit that has gone decades without attention gives them the last opening they need into the attic. What they leave behind, nested and soiled insulation, gets pulled and the space sanitized before we install anything new.
Cold air pouring off the Hudson and down the Palisades ridge shoves snow into every seam an Englewood roof has open, and heat leaking from an unsealed attic floor melts that snow from below, which refreezes into ice dams along the eaves. Sealing the leaks first is what keeps the freeze-thaw cycle from repeating each winter.
A downtown two-family with open balloon-framed walls needs the wall cavities and the attic floor addressed as one project, not two, while a Tudor tucked onto a narrow East Hill lot can mean tighter knee-wall access than a Liberty Road ranch. Walking the actual attic before quoting it is why the plan changes house to house.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation in Englewood: Questions We Get
What does an attic insulation job actually include in Englewood?
The job opens with sealing: top-plate seams, the chimney surround, the hatch frame and any can lights get closed first so warm air stops finding a shortcut out. Baffles follow at the soffit, then blown-in or batt material fills the floor to what today's guidance calls for. Anything already up there that is wet, flattened or shows wildlife activity gets pulled before the new material goes down.
Can new insulation go over what is already in my Englewood attic, or does the old material always have to come out first?
Only when it needs to. Dry batts or blown-in that has stayed free of rodents can simply be topped off with fresh material. What forces a full pull is dampness, flattening beyond usefulness, or squirrels and raccoons having denned in it, which our inspectors see often enough in Englewood's older wards to check for on every visit.
Are there incentives for attic insulation in Englewood?
PSE&G serves Englewood, and New Jersey has, at various points, offered rebates through its statewide clean-energy programs for insulation and air sealing projects like this one. Whether that is currently the case is worth confirming during your visit, since our crew stays on top of what is live and what has lapsed.
Do balloon-framed Victorian attics near downtown Englewood need special handling?
Yes. Balloon framing leaves the wall cavities open from the foundation up to the roof, without the fire stops a stick-built house would have, so insulating the attic floor alone still leaves air a path to move through the walls. We treat those open bays as part of the same attic plan instead of a separate job.
How do you decide whether my Englewood attic needs blown-in or batts?
The inspection decides it. An open Liberty Road attic floor almost always takes loose-fill fastest, while the angled ceilings and knee walls typical of an East Hill Tudor fight loose material and do better with batts. A good number of Englewood attics end up mixing the two, one method for the flat run and the other for the corners.
Is attic insulation a quick job in an Englewood house, or does it take a while?
A simple top-up over sound material in an open attic goes fast. Pulling wildlife-damaged insulation out of a Fourth Ward two-family, or working through the tight balloon-framed bays near downtown, stretches things out longer. Once the crew has actually walked the space, the written estimate lays out how long yours will realistically run.
What other Bergen County towns do you serve near Englewood?
Tenafly, Teaneck and Leonia keep our crews within a few minutes of Englewood most weeks, Bergenfield and Englewood Cliffs are just as routine, and Cliffside Park down along the river rounds out the list. Bergen County as a whole falls inside our regular coverage, so getting an attic on the schedule rarely takes long.
Can attic insulation on its own get rid of the ice dams over my Englewood roof?
Only partway, and it works best paired with air sealing. Ice dams start once warm air escaping through the attic floor turns the underside of the snowpack to water, and that water freezes solid again the moment it reaches the cold eave. Sealing the leaks, adding depth to current guidance and keeping the soffit baffles clear takes away the heat feeding that cycle in the first place.
