Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

Why Attic Insulation Comes Out in Old Bridge
Three things push an Old Bridge attic toward pulling everything out rather than layering more on: water that has found its way in past a roof or duct joint, wildlife that took up residence in the material at some point, or insulation so old and compressed it has stopped doing much of anything. Master Attic figures out which one applies before bringing any equipment upstairs, then contains the work area so nothing spreads past the attic hatch.
Wildlife-contaminated insulation gets handled with extra care: droppings and old nesting material are bagged and vacuumed rather than swept by hand, since disturbing them loose just scatters odor and bacteria into insulation nearby that was otherwise fine. Sections soaked by a leak or gone moldy get pulled the same careful way, because tearing into wet, breaking-down material without containment turns a contained problem into a mess across the whole attic floor.
Once the attic is empty, the gaps that let air escape, around the hatch frame, the flue, and any wiring or duct penetrations, get closed before the crew touches a single bag of new fill, since an open leak just draws the same problems right back in. Split-level and ranch stock from the township's earlier decades sees this most, and the free written estimate lays out what a particular attic actually requires.
What Attic Insulation Removal in Old Bridge Includes
What tends to ride along once the old material is out, decided at the same walk-through.
What Leads to Attic Insulation Removal in Old Bridge
The four issues that send most Old Bridge attics into a removal job rather than a simple top-up.
Attics in Browntown and Madison Park that have held holiday boxes and off-season furniture since the township's postwar boom often have insulation matted flat under the weight, which drops its performance well below what a full-depth floor should provide.
A slow roof leak or a leaking duct joint can sit unnoticed for a long time, soaking the insulation underneath before it ever shows up as a stain on the ceiling below. Wet insulation stops doing its job long before the ceiling tells you about it.
A squirrel or raccoon that climbed down off Cheesequake's wooded border and found a way past an old soffit joint tends to den directly in the material, so a patch that looked minor from the hatch often turns out to be a full bay of torn, soiled fill once the vacuum crew gets a real look.
Getting a vacuum hose and containment through a split-level hatch takes more staging than a full colonial attic does, since the low side of the roofline eats into working room fast. That access gets scouted before the crew ever schedules the job.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Attic Insulation Removal in Old Bridge: Questions We Get
If my attic insulation still looks intact, does it really need to come out?
Not automatically. Age by itself does not always call for a full pull, plenty of dry, uncontaminated batts get topped instead of hauled out. What tips the answer is contamination or damage: droppings from raccoons or squirrels, water staining, mold, or fill so matted it has lost its loft. Any of those and the old material has to leave before fresh insulation arrives.
Is a removal job in an Old Bridge split-level a quick fix or a longer project?
A lot rides on condition. An attic with contained, dry material and no wildlife history clears fast, while heavy contamination, water damage or a cramped split-level layout each add their own time to the job. Once the walk-through is done, your particular timeline lands in the written estimate rather than being guessed at up front.
Are there NJ incentives for insulation removal and replacement in Old Bridge?
Old Bridge sits within PSE&G's footprint, and the state-run energy efficiency incentives have folded insulation work into their rebate list in prior cycles, sometimes contingent on the failed material being removed properly first. What qualifies shifts from cycle to cycle, so we confirm the current details together while quoting the project.
Can you remove attic insulation without disturbing the rest of my belongings up there?
In most cases, yes. The plastic containment and vacuum equipment are built to isolate the work area, so boxes or items you want to keep can usually be moved aside rather than hauled out entirely. If the whole attic needs to be cleared for access, that gets discussed and agreed on before the job begins.
What does the removal process look like once you start?
The work area gets sectioned off with plastic first, to keep dust and old material from traveling past the attic hatch, then the insulation is vacuumed or bagged out rather than swept loose. Once it is out, we sanitize where the job calls for it and prep the floor for new insulation to go across.
Does new insulation always follow right behind the old material coming out?
In a lot of cases, yes, especially when there is no reason to pause for drying time or a sanitizing pass first. Removal, sealing and the new install often run together as one project in Old Bridge, but the exact sequence and what each step covers are always laid out in writing before the crew starts.
Besides Old Bridge itself, which towns keep your crews busy with removal work?
Sayreville and East Brunswick round out the Middlesex County side of the route, Matawan, Aberdeen and Marlboro pick up the Monmouth County stretch just past the line, and Edison stays in the regular Middlesex County rotation too. Removal calls come out of this stretch of central Jersey often enough that a crew is rarely more than a short drive away in any given week.
Where does all the old insulation actually go after your crew hauls it out?
It gets bagged or contained right at the source and taken off site for disposal that follows local regulations, so nothing contaminated sits around the property afterward. The point of the job is a floor that is genuinely cleared and ready, not insulation shoved into a corner or left in a pile somewhere.
