Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Insulate a Paramus Crawl Space Floor
A crawl space floor works differently than an attic floor: instead of holding heat inside a room below it, it is the only thing standing between the living space above and the open ground underneath a Paramus split-level or ranch. Where that insulation is missing, thin, or has fallen away with age, the floor above stays noticeably chillier underfoot than the rooms around it through a North Jersey winter.
New crawlspace insulation starts with what is already there. Batts that have gone damp, come loose from the framing, or picked up a rodent nest get pulled out first, and any obvious air leaks around the rim and framing get sealed while that framing is exposed and easy to reach. A vapor barrier can go down during that same trip wherever the ground underneath is still bare.
What a particular Paramus crawl space actually needs is determined by the inspection: how much of the old insulation still works, how exposed the framing is to outside air, and whether the ground itself needs a barrier too. The estimate spells out that full scope in writing before a crew is booked.

What We Find Under Paramus Crawl Space Floors
Thin original batts, ground moisture, rodent damage and tight access: what shapes most new-insulation jobs under a Paramus crawl space floor.
Crawl space floors under Paramus split-levels from the 1950s and 60s boom got whatever thin layer builders considered normal at the time, well under what a Bergen County inspection recommends by today's energy-code guidance. Most new-insulation jobs here are simply catching a floor up to where it should already be.
The same water table that keeps Bergen County's soil damp reaches batt insulation resting against bare ground or hanging loose from the joists, and material that wet rarely lasts as long under a Paramus floor as it would in a properly dried basement. That early damage is usually why a floor turns cold well before the insulation looks obviously bad.
Once a batt pulls away from the framing it stops doing its job and becomes an easy place for a mouse to nest, especially in the colder months when Paramus rodents move indoors earlier than towns to the south. New insulation only holds if that nest and the material around it come out first.
A Paramus split-level crawl space is often shorter and narrower than a full basement, with less headroom to work in and framing set closer to grade than newer construction typically allows. That access shapes how the crew stages the job and how long a specific installation actually takes.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
New Crawlspace Insulation in Paramus: Questions We Get
What's included when you install new insulation under a Paramus crawl space floor?
We start by checking what is already under the floor: whether it is still doing its job, whether it has picked up moisture or a rodent nest, and how exposed the framing is to outside air. Anything that needs to come out does, air leaks around the rim get sealed, and new batts go in across the floor, with a vapor barrier added where the ground is bare.
How long does putting in new crawlspace insulation usually take here?
Most of the variation traces back to one question: does anything old need to come out first? A floor getting fresh batts over intact, dry framing wraps up quickly; one needing damaged material or rodent debris cleared beforehand takes longer. The actual pace for your specific floor gets pinned down in the written estimate rather than guessed at ahead of time.
Does PSE&G cover any part of a new crawlspace insulation job in Paramus?
Paramus falls within PSE&G's territory, and insulation upgrades, crawl space work included, have qualified for utility and state rebates before. What is currently offered changes, so confirm the specifics with your estimator during the inspection rather than relying on anything printed here.
Can new insulation go in without removing anything old?
Sometimes. If the existing batts are dry, intact and not blocking access to the rim or framing, new material can be added over or alongside them rather than starting from bare joists. That call gets made during the walkthrough, since it depends entirely on the condition the inspection actually finds.
Why do you use batts instead of other insulation in a Paramus crawl space?
Batt insulation is what fits most crawl space floor framing here, since it holds its shape wedged between the joists instead of settling or sagging away from the wood over time. The inspection checks joist spacing, moisture levels and how much of the existing material is worth keeping before recommending a specific approach for that particular crawl space.
Should the crawl space be sealed before new insulation goes in?
If the ground is bare or the vents are still open to outside air, yes, since fresh insulation against an unsealed, damp crawl space runs into the exact problem that damaged the material it is replacing. Where the space is already dry and closed off, new insulation can be installed on its own without a separate encapsulation step.
Beyond Paramus, what other Bergen County towns get new crawlspace insulation from you?
Glen Rock, Hackensack, Oradell, Fair Lawn, River Edge and Ridgewood all sit within easy reach and see this work from us regularly, with the rest of Bergen County covered from there. A town missing from this short list is still very much in range.
Will new crawlspace insulation make the floors upstairs less cold this winter?
Most homeowners notice a difference once the floor framing above the crawl space is properly covered again, since a bare or thinly insulated floor is one of the more direct paths for cold to reach a room. Windows, the attic and general air sealing all play a part too, so the inspection looks at the whole picture rather than promising a fixed result from this one step.
