Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How We Remove Crawlspace Insulation in Paramus
Insulation under a Paramus crawl space floor does not fail quietly. It goes damp against the ground, pulls loose from the joists it was stapled to, or gets torn apart by a mouse or squirrel looking for a place to nest, and the material stops earning its keep well before any of that damage is visible from a quick glance.
Clearing it out begins with pinning down how much damage has actually occurred and where. Wet or sagging batts get pulled by hand or with equipment suited to a crawl space's tight clearance, anything a rodent got into is bagged and hauled out along with the droppings and nesting material around it, and the ground and framing underneath get a look for damage the old insulation had been hiding.
What comes next depends on what that inspection finds. Some Paramus crawl spaces need nothing more than fresh insulation once the old material is gone; others need the ground sealed first, or the rim joists addressed, because the same water table that ruined the last batch will just as easily ruin the next. The written estimate lays out which of those applies before any work is scheduled.

What Comes Out of Paramus Crawl Spaces Most Often
Four conditions behind most of the crawlspace removal calls we get in Paramus.
Bergen County's water table keeps the ground under an open Paramus crawl space damp enough that insulation touching or hanging close to it eventually absorbs more moisture than it can hold, and wet fiberglass or cellulose stops insulating almost entirely once that happens. That is the single most common reason we pull material out.
A Paramus crawl space is just as reachable for a mouse or squirrel through a skirting gap or a foundation vent as it is through the roofline, and once inside, they tend to nest directly inside the loose insulation rather than merely near it. Torn fiberglass and droppings do not get left in place; that material comes out and the area gets cleaned right along with it.
The low clearance in a Paramus split-level crawl space makes it easy for insulation to shift or come free from the joists over the years, especially where a previous repair or utility work disturbed it and it was never restapled properly. That loose material stops insulating well before it is visibly falling.
A lot of what we remove from Paramus crawl spaces is simply original to a house built during the 1950s or 60s boom and has spent seventy years compressing, settling and absorbing seasonal humidity. Replacing it is less about damage in any one spot and more about material that was never meant to last this long.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Crawlspace Insulation Removal in Paramus: Questions We Get
What are the signs my Paramus crawl space insulation needs to be pulled?
Watch for batts pulling away from where they were originally stapled, a stale odor drifting up into the floor above, dark staining across the material, or clear evidence a rodent has been living in it. Not every crawl space needs a full removal. Some just need the damaged sections addressed, and sorting out which situation applies is the whole point of the walkthrough.
What should I expect for a timeframe on crawlspace insulation removal in Paramus?
Two things mostly decide the pace: how far the damage has spread, and how much room the crew has to physically maneuver in down there. A small pocket of damaged batts clears out fast; an entire floor affected by rodents and moisture takes longer given how carefully it has to be bagged and hauled. The inspection turns those two factors into the schedule that lands in your written estimate.
Does removing old crawlspace insulation qualify for any NJ rebate?
Pulling out old material rarely qualifies on its own for an NJ Clean Energy Program rebate, but the new insulation that usually follows has in past years, depending on the current program. Since removal and replacement are typically quoted and completed together, ask your estimator to confirm what applies to the whole project.
Do I need to leave the house while old crawlspace insulation gets pulled?
No. Everything happens down in the crawl space, and the crew wears protective equipment matched to whatever the material turns out to be, whether that is plain moisture damage or a rodent-contaminated section. Nothing about the removal reaches into the living space above while it is underway.
How do you decide how much insulation actually has to come out?
Every section gets checked for moisture, sagging and rodent contamination rather than assuming the whole floor needs to go. Dry, undisturbed insulation away from a problem area is frequently left alone, while material that is wet, torn or fouled comes out. That section-by-section approach keeps the job focused on what genuinely needs replacing.
Do I need new insulation or encapsulation right after removal?
Usually both get discussed together, since insulation put back without addressing whatever damaged the last batch tends to fail the same way. If the ground was the source of the moisture, encapsulation gets recommended alongside new insulation. If the cause was a now-sealed rodent entry point, sometimes new insulation is enough on its own.
Outside Paramus, which Bergen County towns get crawlspace removal work from you?
River Edge, Glen Rock, Fair Lawn, Ridgewood, Hackensack and Oradell are the closest neighbors and get regular visits from us, but Bergen County coverage does not stop at that ring. Contact us regardless of whether your town made this short list.
Once it is pulled, what happens to the old material?
It gets bagged right where it comes out, especially anything touched by rodents, and hauled off the property rather than stacked outside to deal with later. Nothing stays behind in the crawl space once the material the inspection judged unsalvageable has come out.
