Master Attic did a phenomenal job with our attic insulation and duct replacement. We had a loss from smoke damage from a neighboring fire and we were met with compassion and excellent customer service from Danny Jones and Jorge Diaz. We chose them for their quality of work, expertise and fair pricing and they got the job done promptly. Thank you for the excellent work and we will be recommending you highly!

How Rodent Proofing Works in a Lodi Attic or Crawl Space
Rodent proofing in Lodi begins with finding exactly how something reached the attic or crawl space, not just confirming that it did. In the borough's rows of attached two-family duplexes, that search usually runs along the shared kneewall between units, the seam where a flat second-floor roof section meets the main roofline, and the foundation vents and skirting below wherever a crawl space is part of the house.
Once the entry points are mapped, we seal them: professional-grade foam for gaps around pipes, wiring and the roofline, and mesh fencing anywhere an opening is too large to foam shut. Anything already inside gets removed, and insulation the rodents nested in or contaminated comes out, because leaving soiled material in place only invites the next one.
The attic or crawl space is sanitized once it is clear, and the estimate that comes with the inspection lists exactly what we found, what needs to be sealed and what needs to come out, in writing, before any work begins. In a duplex where access to a shared attic runs through one household's hatch, we coordinate with both units so the inspection covers the whole space at once.

Where Rodents Get Into Lodi Attics & Crawl Spaces
The four conditions that open a way in for rodents in Lodi's two-family duplexes.
Lodi's two-family houses share a kneewall or an attic floor between units more often than a detached house would, and a gap in that shared wall lets a mouse move from one household's attic into the other's without ever going outside.
The flat or low-slope sections common over a Lodi duplex's second floor age differently than a sloped roof does, and the seams where they meet the main roofline open up over the years, giving squirrels, raccoons and mice a path onto the framing they would not otherwise reach.
Once a rodent has been living in a Lodi attic, the insulation underneath it usually needs to come out, not just get topped over. Droppings, urine and nesting material stay in the material long after the animal is gone.
With most Lodi two-family houses running on full basements rather than crawl spaces, foundation vents, sill gaps and utility penetrations near the ground are where a mouse gets into the lowest level of the house before it ever reaches the attic.

We just had our attic insulation replaced, and the entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. Robert is knowledgeable, honest and easy to work with at the initial estimate period. Roberta and his crew did a great job replacing the attic insulation for our house. They were very professional, efficient and respectful. They did everything that needed to be done and left the space clean and in excellent condition. I am very happy that I chose Master Attic and would highly recommend them.
Dan Jones and the Ronald crew did a great job from start to finish! I had original insulation in my attic with no electricity, not an easy job. Our upstairs was very hot in the summer and cold in winter. With having central air, we still needed AC units and space heaters to manage. Dan set up a great plan to eliminate that. He and his crew were able to come and finish the job shortly after we first met. They were quick, clean and managed to crawl into small spaces to remove old insulation and install fresh insulation. We have already noticed a major difference! Highly recommended!!
We hired Master Attic to clean out debris, mice, old insulation, and replace with new insulation in both our attic spaces. Roberto and his crew did a phenomenal job. They were extremely professional, polite, and did a fantastic job. They invited my husband to see the attic after each step, and took pictures on their phone to show me since I could not get up in the attic. They took the time to protect the space with plastic sheeting before the job up in the attic, and then cleaned up everything perfectly afterwards. I highly recommend them!
Great job by the team. Cleaned out the entire attic and replaced all the old insulation with new fresh insulation. Made a huge difference. Alex was great to work with and was very professional. Would highly recommend.
Awesome experience from start to finish. Rob provided a great assessment and capabilities overview, arrived on time and was very generous and thorough in explaining the work. I signed on the spot. A crew of six arrived (again, on time) and completely transformed our attic space - thoroughly cleaned out the old insulation (looked spotless afterwards), sanitized the space, sealed it/rodent proofed it, added baffles and of course, replaced the insulation and added more in areas that needed it. Completed the whole job in half a day and we are delighted with the result. Thank you, Master Attic team, for a job very well done! Highest recommendation.
What a great experience I had with this company and its employees. It started with initially interacting with Joe who came out for the estimate. He was funny because he came down from my attic and said "have you seen up there". I laughed because I had and I knew it was bad. He was no pressure and no nonsense. Gave me an estimate and said if I wanted we could have the work done next day. I wasn't ready for that but after some schedule juggling I told him we could be ready. Joe had his guys out next morning with the best part being Jorge calling me to advise he was about thirty minutes out. I appreciate when I am given a heads up as to ETA. Three of them arrived Jorge set out plastic and covered exposed furniture. Jorge, Angel and Gonzalo were all polite and worked hard to complete the task. They worked efficiently and were done quickly. Jorge made sure he included me in each step of the process and when I saw the finished product I was amazed. I can actually use my attic for storage if I choose to do so. I did not realize when they were here that they also do work on crawlspace areas. I will be calling them back to see what they can do for my crawlspace which easily rivals the diasaster called my attic. I recommend at least giving this company and its employees an opportunity to help you.
Great company to work with. From beginning to end, Dan came out, spent plenty of time with me going over everything that needed to be done, and the process of everything that needed to be updated it both attics. His professionalism was top notch, answered all my question and concerns. When it came time for George and his six-man crew to do the work their quality of workmanship was well above average, they were here the whole day, and I don't think they even had a lunch break (hopefully I don't get him in trouble). They all worked and everyone knew what their job was, they removed all the insulation, cleaned, spray foamed all holes and top plates, re-insulated both attics and cleaned up like they weren't even here. Will definitely use them again.
Master Attic remediated a bat issue for us back in October and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful job they did. The work was guaranteed and they encouraged us to call if we say any further evidence of bats. Well, there were a few droppings in the attic and they quickly responded to our concerns. Jose’s crew came out on a SUNDAY, inspected the attic, and sealed up several spots that could be entry points. They were professional, efficient, and kind. I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.
Rodent Proofing in Lodi: Questions We Get
What steps make up a rodent proofing job on a Lodi two-family house?
It starts with finding how something got in, not just what is currently inside. In Lodi's attached duplexes that usually means checking the shared kneewall between units and the seam where a flat second-floor roof section meets the main roofline, then working down to foundation vents and crawl access below. Every opening we find gets sealed with foam or mesh, and anything already nested inside comes out.
How long does rodent proofing take for a Lodi duplex?
It depends on how many openings we find and what has to come out first. Sealing a single confirmed gap is quick, while a shared attic with contaminated insulation and multiple entry points along the kneewall and roofline takes longer to do properly. We put the schedule for your specific attic or crawl space in writing along with the rest of the estimate, so there is a clear expectation before the crew is booked.
Are there NJ Clean Energy incentives that apply to rodent proofing work in Lodi?
Rodent proofing itself is not the kind of upgrade the program covers, but the new insulation that often follows it, once the old contaminated material is removed, sometimes qualifies. PSE&G and the state program both cover Lodi, and our estimator can confirm current eligibility on site.
Can rodents move between attached Lodi duplexes even after my side is sealed?
If the neighboring unit's attic is not addressed, a gap on their side of a shared kneewall can still let rodents into that half of the structure, and pressure can eventually find a new way toward your side. We flag anything we see on a shared wall so you know what to raise with the other household, even when we can only seal the side we were hired to work on.
How do you prioritize which openings to seal on a Lodi duplex?
The inspection walks the whole attic and crawl space rather than stopping at the first hole found, because a Lodi duplex often has more than one way in between the shared kneewall, the roofline seam and any foundation gaps below. Everything gets mapped before anything gets sealed, and the estimate lists each opening and how it will be closed.
Does the insulation have to come out before you seal a Lodi attic?
Only where it is nested in or soiled. If the insulation is clean, it typically stays put while we seal the entry points around it. Once droppings or urine have gotten into the material, though, it has to be removed and the attic sanitized first, otherwise closing up the openings just seals the problem inside.
What towns around Lodi does Master Attic handle rodent proofing in?
All of Bergen County. Lodi's own bordering towns, Garfield, Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Maywood, Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook, South Hackensack and Wood-Ridge, keep our crews busy on the same kind of attached housing, and Paramus a short drive west is on our regular schedule too.
Do flat roof sections make Lodi duplexes more prone to rodent entry than a typical pitched roof?
Yes, more than most people expect. A pitched roof has fewer seams for water and animals to exploit, while the flat or low-slope section common over a Lodi second-floor unit has a perimeter edge and a roofline transition that both open up with age. Checking that transition for gaps is standard practice on any rodent-proofing call in this borough.
